Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Ja had Thug Lovin, Wonderful and New York. All tough records but it wasn't cool to like Ja. He got played out and was making some real soft music. I still play those songs today.

Blood In My Eye EP was wack as ****.

Ja was just 5'5

50 was authentic looking and had street cred.

He made it seem like Ja was a phony and people ran with it, because he was 5'5 and his whole career looked as if he was trying too hard. From the shirt off to the bandana and tatts.

If Ja wasn't 5'5 and built like a 14 year old he could have handled it better. Because people even brushed off his replies back and him running around saying they beat up 50.

He just didn't look believable.

Ja did that to himself though. Remember that interview when he was saying

"ya'll wanna see Pac come back!! it's here! I'm Pac!!"

:lol He had plenty of those moments. He just didn't handle that beef well. I don't think height mattered. Eazy E was like 5'3 and people always took him serious.

Nah man, Ja was really feeling his voice. He went from a little singing to really singing. I like Put It On Me and Rainy Dayz gotta pass. Then he did some song with Ashanti and they were acting out the Grease movie. I can't remember if this was right before the beef or during the beef but when I saw that video I was like oh nah. He lost his mind.

50 was singing hooks the same way and making songs for chicks or having a singer on the hooks

50 was putting out Candy Shop, Just A Little Bit, Hate It Or Love It....

He had the exact same formula after the first album.

Perfectly said. What 50 did is make it uncool to like Ja. He still had hits afterwards but you’d get straight clowned if you had the gaul to say you were a Ja fan

50 made Ja insecure. Dude didn’t know if he wanted to be a gangster rap or songstress.

One thing I’ve always said is that Ja is one of the best song writers Hip Hop has ever seen. I remember Nore talking about how nice Ja was when it came to songwriting on his podcast.

Actually they didn't take Eazy serious

Dre and Snoop sort of ended his career in the same exact Ja Rule like way.

Eazy pretty much did the same thing, released a entire project to Dre and them.

Nah. Eazy was still respected and he signed Bone who sold millions and millions. His career was not ended.

Eazy and Ja was nothing alike. :lol

I can never think about Ja without thinking about this vid from MTV

This is hilarious but true.

I remember a Lloyd Banks interview when he said 50 use to tell em all early to get in the gym and get built and they use to be like ***** nah

But 50 was a different thinker early on. He was cognizant of image and marketing. Back then in my middle school mind I thought 50 was Ronnie Coleman in a bullet proof vest. He was like a damn superhero. Now I look back and I’m like he wasn’t even that big

Ja was like an untrained chihuahua :smh: He made decent music but no one believed the thug ****.

Eazy's career was cold as hell until Bone. None of his writers were with him.

There was a gap between Bone and Dre's success

Drake not dead but damn that boy took an L

i thought he was ready "for the smoke" the way he came out, but dude ended up folding lol

And Eazy was making money off of Dre's success. Part of Dre's release from Eazy's label was that Eazy would get points off anything Dre produced. So how could his career had been over? Thuggish Ruggish Bone came out in 94, that wasn't a big gap.

Again, Ja and Eazy situations are nothing alike.

The difference is Eazy died of AIDS

How old are you? Snoop and Dre were the biggest artist in rap and they were dissing Eazy in song and video.

And Eazy releasing Bone is no different than Murder Inc putting out platinum projects with Ashanti.

Yeah Snoop and Dre was huge, we know that.

You comparing Eazy and Ja just ain't accurate. Eazy was making money off his "opponent" and went on to sign one of the biggest groups of all time. Eazy even went double platinum off a EP that was dissing deathrow. Bone Thugs debute EP sold millions.

Even Ashanti's sells went down after that beef. Murder Inc slowed down a lot and never recovered.

Ruthless was still doing numbers. Eazy's EP about deathrow is actually his most successful solo project. Then a year after that Bone Thugs dropped. So there's no way Eazy's career ended. :lol

Making money off the opponent isn't what matters. Nobody was saying Ja was broke.

Ja was still doing numbers after 50.

People were saying Eazy was broke back then. Plus the rumors of Suge.

Eazy was so hurt in the battle he went and did an entire project aimed at Dre. Eazy looked bad because Dre and Snoop controlled the narrative, and Dre Day hurt his career, because people were laughing at AJ Johnson.

Plus everyone knew that Eazy didn't write. He was cold. Bone brought him back.

I hate the narrative of. I was going to respond, but I was stopped.

It's like being held back in a fight. You don't get credit for wanting to fight.

Drake stans are going to run with that rumor.

He would be telling him not to respond, because there's nothing he can say to equal what Pusha said.

Now anytime someone goes at Drake, well J Prince told him not to respond. It's corny and isn't hip hop.
I mean, this is an accurate description of Drake. He's just doing what those of us who know are expecting from a goober who got thrown into the limelight. All the money in the world can't take away the corny.

Going forward, those people in hip hop who's opinion matters know what's what. Drake can continue to play in the pop sphere, but he should proceed with caution in hip hop. Someone had to knock him back to reality after Meek.

First you said his career ended, then "he was cold" "Bone Thugs brought him back". Which is it?

Murder Inc was clowned so hard they couldn't recover. It was a wrap. That wasn't the case with Eazy. It's just not a good comparison bruh, that's all.
