Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Conspiracy theory? Did you even watch the show today?

Yes I did. Black Beatles / mannequin challenge didn't go viral because it was planned. You don't understand IG if you believe that. Dudes make ig videos, dance rap, do funny **** and get views. People share and remake it. That's how it goes viral. Not because it was planned .

So the show literally spoke about how organic these things are and referenced the source story about a record label paying a guy to make memes...and here you are telling me that the idea of the mannequin challenge being inorganic is a far fetched conspiracy theory.

You got it. Let me keep believing in my "conspiracy theories"...and I'll leave the facts to you since you got em all.

They were talking about using memes in regards to promo not about challenges popping off. That happens on its own.

Whether Black Beatles was organic or not who knows. Some times a hit is a hit but to me it's just naive when I see people act like Labels don't go above and beyond to push whatever act. Paying radio stations, faking #'s, that **** been going on for decades.

I'm sure these labels have adjusted to the internet era and know what to do to get **** poppin. That's not some the earth is flat conspiracy, that's what they do.

I have no disagreement with labels or artists pushing things, but to think every challenge that pops being inorganic is ridiculous. Most **** blows by itself. I also know that labels and some artists pay for exposure. There have been cases where some rappers pay dancers to dance to they videos and things like that. But as far as these challenges go, kids are doing that ****. Its the same from when everybody had a crank that video on YouTube. Same as jerking videos. When things blow up, everybody else wants to be apart of it.

Has this been posted?

An agency working with Interscope positioned the song to be the official song used for the challenge. Brilliant marketing effort.

I don't know about that "Most **** blows by itself" part.

Jimmy Iovine said it himself he used connections to get Dre and Snoop radio play. That's 2 of the most gifted people we've seen in Hip Hop yet dudes act like it's crazy when you say that Chance the rappers connections help him or some of these other mainstream rappers are getting pushed heavy.

PizzaSlime already said they were hired by Interscope and played a big part in the song being associated with it. The challenge was starting to pop off on a low level but didn't have a song associated with it yet. Swae and Jxmmi did it at their show to Black Beatles and then PizzaSlime put it into overdrive and basically made Black Beatles/Mannequin intertwined. By the time A LOT of people first heard of the challenge they already knew Black Beatles was the "official song" for it. These dudes be owning multiple parody/viral accounts too so they can just pepper **** out into _'s timelines

It's kinda funny but a lot of those big parody/viral accounts are run by various teams of people. Goal is essentially the same as being an "IG model", run ya numbers up and people will start paying you to put **** in front of your audience.

Hard part is tryna make it look organic:

My comments were to these challenges being created by kids. Which it is. It was already a thing before Rae Remmurd became attatched like you said. I'm not talking labels or rappers attaching themselves to it, catapulting it to another level.

who said they werent?

I specifically referenced the mannequin challenge/black beatles in my first post. you claimed "***** just put a song in the background in an ig video and it popped" which we see now is false...and now you're moving goalposts to say you were referring to "challenges being created by kids".

No goalposts being moved at all. Just a misunderstanding. You said all of these Instagram challenges that are being made weren't organic which is the stance I was commenting on and I thought you were considering the mannequin challenge in general something that was manufactured, when it was already a thing being passed around before their involvement.

I was wrong about nobody being behind the black Beatle being a label involvement.

That ASAP Bari video worse than I thought. _ just sit himself up in some BS. 3 dudes with a naked female, you telling her to suck your ****, smacking her ***, she clearly not with it.

Didn't know that guy had as much going for him once I looked into who he wad

Ho budden wouldn't dare say that about the weekends latest stuff even though we know that's the REAL bad.

Why does Ak never know slang and needs everything explained.

He doesn't help the perception of staying in his moms basement in front of the computer.

I'm like dawg, aren't you supposed to be the young hip one.

:smh: at Joe calling The Weeknd's Kiss Land album bad

He admitted to not liking something?

I did like how Ak showed how Joe made sure not to bad mouth Shady as he would any other label
