Music has been watered down and non-competitive for at least 10 years. That’s not good for acclaim.

If Drake had been truly succeeding amongst peers who want to have competition (whether friendly or volatile) he would get more praise. This is not fact, just opinion of course but, I’m 30 years old. Growing up, it seemed like musicians competed to see who could make the best work. Now there’s literally no competitive nature.

Pusha didn’t really play out like that at all. Pusha literally was saying he wasn’t dissing drake and hiding his hand , drake did 2 birds , pusha was quiet for 3 years and then Pusha cleaned him up lol

I’m going to ride for 50 and G Unit 9 times out of 10, but to say it was organic is a stretch. It was quiet for 50 around power of a dollar. Mostly due to him getting shot, but he’s been said that things were moving slow for him when he was with Columbia records. I’ve watched wayyy too many G Unit DVD’s to not know his story. He took off with Wanksta, which got a push because it was on the 8 Mile soundtrack.

I was too But Kendrick has shot to another stratosphere since then... Just Last summer Drake dropped More Life & Kendrick tucked his whole Summer in after DAMN came out. After what Pusha just did, along with the reach Kendrick has, & add in he has a Label full of Great rappers... Drake is too strategic to even think about blinking that way.

I get what you’re saying my g. They were bubbling in NYC. That’s an indisputable fact. I remember the 50 Cent is the future and G Unit radio with the Murder Inc disses and skits. But in my experience, I can’t say that appeal made it past the tri state. I brought my bootlegs down to Atlanta that thanksgiving and my cousins didn’t know who G Unit was. This was around 2001 when I was in like 7th grade. I played stuff like Be A Gentleman and my fam was looking clueless.

Fast forward to Wanksta and it’s plcement on 8 mile’s soundtrack... G Unit was out of here.

Wanksta was the catalyst that took him from an NYC act to a national phenomenon.
