Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Both them *****s was way outta their comfort zones. Rapping with bone wasn’t easy and it wasn’t something *****s was fighting over doing, just because of how different their style was.

BIG floated with the bone flow like he was a member, though. Don’t @ me.

Pac ain't even switch his flow and still kilt it. Son sounded possessed.

So I posted this in another thread earlier this week.....

Realized how much I loved the beat. And posted that in yet another thread.

About to hit these miles tomorrow (before the scotch) and cannot wait to hit my stride to this.

Crazy **** is I searched and apparently there is no sample there. That's an original production.

Their in house producer T-Mix aka Mo-Suave-A did all their stuff until the Space Age album. He gotta be one of the best producers of the 90's. When I started really listening to Ball & G I was like "who did these beats?" I can't believe he don't get talked about. He was making luxurious cinematic beats. Still sound fresh and clean today.

how long till benny the butcher is mentioned amongst the likes of kendrick & cole by notable media outlets?

i've always been able to recognize the talent of kendrick and cole but what they do never "clicked" with me on a personal level. call me crazy but i've never viewed either of them as "next in line" when it comes to past generations of heavy hitter lyricist.

i feel like benny is the guy some of us that arent on the kendrick/cole train have been waitin for. lyrically, he can hang with both of them but he doesnt offer the OD animated voices and convenient fake deep BS. and he actually has a STORY. that **** matters.

cole 30+ out here rappin bout losin his virginity. this is the kinda **** you resort to when you really dont have **** to say.

"you aint got no war stories, you aint got ****. cuz we aint tryna here ya lil songs for the chicks"...

after TT3 dropped, benny officially became "next up" in my book.

Lightweight surprised by this response. The general consensus for years has been that big kilt bone. Your response kinda says you disagree which i was not expecting. But anyway...

how was big outta his comfort zone if D dot did the beat? Lol thats HIS MAN. Im not sayin that either big or pac were weak on those songs, im simply sayin that bizz got them 2 *****’s out tha paint. Both did they thing tho.

Just irks me when people that dont kno **** bout bone get to talkin about the group and the only thing they manage to come up with is that overhyped song. In addition to that, its only brought up bc of big feature but make no mistake about it, bizz ate his food, and if im keepin it funky, kray did too. Lol

Lol @ the notion of big adopting they’re flow just because he rapped faster than normal.
Their style was more than just fast rap bruh...
I don’t disagree with anything here, just want to be clear that what Bone was doing was DIFFERENT. Them ****** wasn’t rapping like everyone else, so I agree with you. But the fact that Big blended the way he did cannot be overlooked. D Dot was his man, but when you were rapping with Bone, it was a Bone song. They’re style overwhelmed whatever melody you thought you were hearing.

The throughline being Bone doesn’t get the respect they deserve.

Benny and Roc Marci should get talked about more.

Benny hard but nah bro

That **** is niche. Lyricism in general is kinda niche without that mainstream cut on top i.e Kenny, Cole, Logic etc. Push got way more mainstream cut on his music along with more youth appeal and he’s niche as well.

Stealing on whoever has the aux (Bluetooth connected) at the function if they play Fab - ball drop or dreams and nightmares intro at midnight

Happy New Years everybody!

How do you define “mainstream cut”? And is benny anymore niche than kendrick/cole were before things picked up for them?

And i kno why you threw push in there but he’s been in the game damn near 20. Benny, kendrick and cole are all somewhat young in the game. Plus his music has youth appeal bc of aligning himself with ye.
