Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Successful podcasts still taking off today, if it’s something you enjoy and want to keep doing then you gotta stick with it and not worry about everyone else but I get it cause there’s 100 new podcasts a week it seems like

facts. I’m hesitant to start listening to new pods these days. If I haven’t been tuned in for years, I pass on most stuff.

Some of this i agree with,

People are allowed to like or dislike whatever the hell they please, most of my discussions surrounding that moreso revolve around the thought process of WHY they dislike whatever the subject may be at the time.

And in doing that i often find that the logic behind it just doesn't usually add up..

For example on Joe's podcast today he says he can't support Kanye because of who Kanye supports

However Joe is the same guy who advocates for artist freedom, industry education, ownership, not being taken advantage of etc etc.... and then got on his platform and defended Lyor Cohen & is hella cool with a lot of these same execs that Embody everything he claims he's against.

At the end of the day we all have hypocritical actions to an extent, i just hate when someone has so much conviction & tries to paint a narrative of a person/situation w/o acknowledging all the nuances.
I'm with you, but I'm moreso at a point where I respect that I'm not going to make sense of someone else's decisions using my own logic. I get what you mean, but it's all perspective, and I can't speak to how he or anyone came to the conclusion in their head. I can say that from my perspective and in my opinion, their logic is flawed...but that's a really self-centered way of looking at things.

Probably why I'm less outraged and more indifferent on Kanye right now. I strongly disagree with him. I think some of what he says is dangerous to those of us listening and not questioning. It is what it is, though. My perspective only goes so far.

Hiphop culture like 1-1000 in "cancellations" the blue check "I'm not my ancestors" "I love my melanin" but exclusively date white men/women crowd does a great job at perpetrating things on social media.... then the real world hits

Dude support trump
Is talking and selling God
And talks drizzly about slavery

Of course he has a following ....

Mostly white Christians and Racist ......

Ya’ll not rocking with Kanye old **** either? It’s been a year or so for me but that’s cause there’s just too much other music I’d rather hear.
I do listen and recently, I was listening to Yeezus....

I dont listen to him now cause I personally think the music he is putting out is garbage. Not ground breaking, not genius, not unheard off, but pure garbage.

Is not about his stance on anything although, I do not agree with the crazy **** he has been saying ...

What I noticed with this new "cancel culture" BS is folks just don't know how to disagree. "You have to think exactly how I think or you a bad person" type ****.

**** is childish and weak. I seriously wonder how these people are in real life when they're not on the internet or TV. Because those are the places where you can be fake and phony and extra PC. In real life everybody's thinking ain't lining perfect on every topic.
