Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I mean Cam is technically a 90s rapper, but I think this generation know him more from early-mid 00’s, Come Home With Me onward

True but even then it's still the same dudes & probably Gucci who are respected a lot by all spectrum's of hiphop the "Lyricist" "Trap Rappers" "Emo Rappers" etc etc

Yeah I was actually talking to some _’s the other day about the first deep cult internet rap movements

Dips came up a lot, Clipse, G Unit, Wayne etc

I think Dipset in particular really embraced southern rappers in a different way too.

All the way through that first decade of the 00’s, they was ******* the Gucci’s, Gotti’s etc as those movements picked up

See now this is what I want to talk about.

I loved Stankonia but all I heard was how Aquemini and ATLiens were the real classics.

For a long time I had Stankonia better than both if only barely.

Lyrically ATLiens and Aquemini are better but Stankonia is a experience. It's like some next level parliament funkadelic with raps. It was first time Andre and Big Boi produced a whole album too.

The foundation of his sound is heavily based on Dilla and early experimental Madlib/Doom

He tryna keep that sound alive with no mainstream cut on it, so if you not already a big fan of that type music there’s almost no chance you gonna like his ****
It just feels lazy to me but is disguised as being artsy but you may be right

Yo, I’ve been into hip-hip boom bap type of **** for years. I always wonder how can we elevate from that. With the rhyme/beat patterns, etc. I feel like it’s reached it’s peak at this point.Today’s music has morphed into something else. Would you guys still consider it hip hop? Think about rock and how it morphed into different genres through out the years.

Had a debate with my boy last night. What’s your guys’s take?

Boz still rockin’ with P too :smokin

This is something I love to see in Hip Hop. I seen an interview with P from a couple weeks ago and said Boz still his right hand man.

I love seeing Jay still rocking with Ty Ty. It's love to see these celebs making hundreds of millions and still be loyal to some of their closest people.
