Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Smoking dope. Y’all don’t understand how heavy Nip was out west. I get it bc we on the internet so if he wasn’t jumping on the internet then it ain’t happen. But believe me, Nip was the top name in LA for years.

That would make him the epitome of a regional legend

Dre is meh at rapping, but he laced Joe with the production.

This sounds petter that’s plato o plomo off my first listen.

-ye shrug

Do we need to define legend because I feel like the way it's being used is both out of respect and out of mockery.

69 is a "legend" in the right of being able to basically run up in a NY gang, become the leader, and take it all down within what 2-3 years? He's not a rap legend by no means but his run from start to wherever he finishes will be talked about for a long time

Twista is def a legend.
As far as nobody out west cares, he headlined the second day of a 2 day show that Griselda headlined the day before in Oakland a few months ago

Nipsey is legendary based off of way more than music. If it is just music alone, I’m not rollin and I’m a big Nip fan.

25 years ago today, the soundtrack to the film Street Fighter was released.

The film was trash, but the soundtrack had some bangers.

The Pharcyde:

MC Hammer and Deion Sanders, which charted in the UK, for some reason.
Jean-Claude Van Damme and some other Street Fighter actors appear in the music video as well.
