Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Finally read Scarface’s book. It was good, short but interesting.

I didn’t know he hated Homies & Thuggs. Hated that J wanted to add that Pac freestyle from a video they recorded during the Smile studio session. Also said Stevie Wonder was in the studio next door when they mastered the song and he cried.

Last of a Dying Breed was basically mailed in because he wanted to get away from Rap A Lot.

He said Jay Z rapped the whole “Southside” verse to his producer word for word one day.

Talked about how badly J Prince robbed him and how dumb he was for going back

Also talked about how much he loved Def Jam and how good they were to him. He also said he told Nas to ease it up on In Between Us cause he took shots at Jay on there. Not sure if that’s out there.

Say what? That's one of the hardest verses ever recorded

Some ****** make it out the neighborhood and won't surface
They let the money make them nervous, what's the purpose?
A ************ sittin' on fat
He came up in the hood but he can't come back

**** that, I remain in the street game frame

He hated it because J Prince wanted Master P on it because how hot P was at the time and Scarface said he hated doing songs with cats just because they were hot. He said he never wanted to ride anyone's wave, always wanted to be his own. Then he said J Prince wanted to use that 2Pac verse on the song and Scarface was like **** no. Pac was freestlying in the studio when they did "Smile" and Scarface's brother recorded it on his camera. So they had to find his brother and find the camera and rip the audio from the camera footage. Scarface said that **** was corny and disrespectful but he had no say. J Prince was the boss and did whatever he wanted and couldn't be questioned.

And thanks for the link

Wait so pac’s verse on smile was a freestyle ripped from a camera?

Nah, so Scarface and 2Pac are in the studio recording Smile. They chilling probably drinking and smoking. Pac started just rapping to the camera. They use the actual camera footage of Pac freestyling in the Homies and Thugs video and they ripped the audio and threw it on the song. That's why his verse sounds so bad, it wasn't recorded in a booth. He just freestyling with everyone in the room.

Da Baby is TRASHHHHHHHHHH. Pamper at a festival wearing *** dude. I don’t understand the appeal. AND I hope I never do

better then Lil baby.

but to be fair, da baby's rap's mechanics are solid...what he does over that solid platform is a matter of taste.

neither are really my cop of tea..but he "can rap".

Hahahaha Hahahaha Does he talk about why he hates the Geto Boys albums in his book? In the interview below he ranks all the Geto Boys albums last and says he hated the times recording em.
