The socioeconomic factors are already there but you drunk if you think rap hasn't contributed to putting negative **** in a few mindsets/normalizing **** ****/converting a few kids who were on that verge either way to get on the **** ****.

Prime example is your favorite rapper the King Of New York. Rap normalized all that silly **** to him to where he didn't look at it as no big deal to be on "gang ****", calling hits, etc. Rap has created a bunch of in the way *** ****** like that.

The socioeconomic root causes are pretty much already there but rap definitely added gas to that fire. Especially after Pac dies and it completely becomes about money, violence and death

But can we ( the black community in America) get better (access to resources, opportunity, and information) than where we are?

Can positive messaging in popular music from folks that look like us help (suggest/encourage/reinforce positive and strategic thinking)?

I can't agree with that when gangbangin was heavy way before gangsta rap took off. LA and Chicago was already HEAVY on that ****. Crack was already a full blown business. The music just gave it a soundtrack.

I'm not talking about ****** born into it. Like I said, socioeconomically it's set up to where a lot of ****** gonna have to go with they move.

I'm talking bout ****** born in decent neighborhoods or otherwise who weren't really "on that" from age 14-17. ****** turn 19-21+ and start trapping/robbing/etc. because the music makes **** seem all willy nilly to sit down for decades or to take a life. It's the music making ****** think **** is less consequential than it is.

You don't think music especially over the last ten years where it has devolved to chanting slang, but gangster rap in general hasn't influenced ANYBODY to sell drugs, hit licks, kill over petty ****?

****** used to do drive bys and **** to Teddy Pendergrass yes, but Teddy Pendergrass wasn't influencing young ****** from the suburbs to wanna go do drive bys or sell drugs like its some video game ****.

play some “earth, wind and fire” or Frankie Beverly and Maze for some people, and they’ll tell you to “cut that old *** music off”. People sheep bruh. They want violence

Them rednecks ain’t listening to rap. And they still shooting. Them middle eastern people not listen to rap. And the my still shooting and bombing. Same in Brazil. They not listening to rap. And they still committing robbery and murdering. It’s the PEOPLE. Stop not holding people accountable. I been listening to rap since I was a baby. And I HATE guns. All my folks will tell you. YouTube and social media are FARRRRRRR worse than rap right now. These timelines and YouTube videos are full of BS and negative material. And the imagery is even worse.
