Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Them rednecks ain’t listening to rap. And they still shooting. Them middle eastern people not listen to rap. And the my still shooting and bombing. Same in Brazil. They not listening to rap. And they still committing robbery and murdering. It’s the PEOPLE. Stop not holding people accountable. I been listening to rap since I was a baby. And I HATE guns. All my folks will tell you. I am afraid of guns and I hat them. Rap ain’t never made me wanna kill anyone.

YouTube and social media are FARRRRRRR worse than rap right now. These timelines and YouTube videos are full of BS and negative material. And the imagery is even worse.

what dictates what you see on social media and YouTube bro

lol my ***** I love rap just as much as the rest of us ITT but cmon

Social media got kids committing suicide and doing dumba**** “challenges” risking life and limb. Rap ain’t never caused that type of s****. All hip hop ever dude was expose the truth

I’m talking about real life altering decisions revolving around jumping out there bc a rap song made it sound like a fun GTA mission not eating tide pods or choking on no ******* cinnamon man

I agree with everything you stated.

But can we ( the black community in America) get better (access to resources, opportunity, and information) than where we are?

Can positive messaging in popular music from folks that look like us help (suggest/encourage/reinforce positive and strategic thinking)?

that ***** is a dancer man

If Pac got to put out One Nation and elevate beyond that phase all this **** would be different because ****** values would have been different going into the new millennium.

instead what did we get...shiny suit money is everything era > super hardcore era minus the consciousness to offset Puffy > and the rest is history

Grimey complain all day about 6ix9ine but don’t recognize the last 20 years of rap music that made it a ridiculous concept in that boys head to just be Danny Hernandez the regular guy rapper :lol

I'm not talking about ****** born into it. Like I said, socioeconomically it's set up to where a lot of ****** gonna have to go with they move.

I'm talking bout ****** born in decent neighborhoods or otherwise who weren't really "on that" from age 14-17. ****** turn 19-21+ and start trapping/robbing/etc. because the music makes **** seem all willy nilly to sit down for decades or to take a life. It's the music making ****** think **** is less consequential than it is.

You don't think music especially over the last ten years where it has devolved to chanting slang, but gangster rap in general hasn't influenced ANYBODY to sell drugs, hit licks, kill over petty ****?

****** used to do drive bys and **** to Teddy Pendergrass yes, but Teddy Pendergrass wasn't influencing young ****** from the suburbs to wanna go do drive bys or sell drugs like its some video game ****.
I’m sorry but the imagery of tires squealing and bruhs dumping off to “yourrre my latest..: annnd my greatesst ... my latest my greatest inspirrratttiioonnnnnnn” is hilarious  and:pimp::pimp: at the same time

this what y’all millennials like though? Or am I sadly mistaken? This is all the yutes and 30 and 40 somethings are into? Mirror pics, vixens, perkys, weed, etc. You a hypocrite. One minute ya’ll posting an IG thot or vixen. Posting a song where dudes stunting and flaunting. Then want to point blame. What’s it’s gone be, chap?

stop being a hypocrite. If your so staunch, and feel strongly about it. Abstain from rap, IG models, Social media, etc. go on a pilgrimage and change the world then. Oh, wait, you can’t. Because you lust after them kind of women and that lifestyle. You can’t defeat your urges :lol :lol

You brought up social media homie I’m speaking moreso towards real life; crash out lifestyle choices that certain ****** wouldn’t have made if certain themes wasn’t normalized in rap the last 20 years.

it’s people from their teens to their 50’s who engage in everything you just listed so IDK what you really saying but as usual man you getting lost in your own argument :lol

they been crashing before RAP! Either way, people gone do whatever. Not everyone listens to hip hop. Yet they still do drugs and commit violent acts. Y’all always pointing blame.

if you as a parent let your child get consumed with any form of entertainment, that’s a reflection upon the PARENT

Bruh I think you been watching too many YouTube doc's.

There have been many different phases of conscious rap, that's not gonna stop _'s from taking to the streets. Pac himself was a extremely conscious rapper. If some _'s chose to just look at one side of Pac that's on them. Another part of this is what women want to listen to. How many times do _'s use that "So y'all bumping real rap with a girl". That's up to you as a individual. You make the choice. You decide what you taking in.

“Scarface the movie did more than scarface the rapper to me, so that aint to blame for all the s*** that happened to me.”

“This is not for commercial usage
Please don’t categorize this is music
Please don’t compare me to other rappers
Compare me to trappers
I’m more Frank Lucas than Ludacris
And Ludas my dude I ain’t tryna diss
Like Frank Lucas is cool but I ain’t tryna snitch”

I kinda feel what he saying tho, a bunch of rappers themselves have spoke on it as well

Ppl like Mozzy etc talking about how rappers only give _’s one side of the streets and turn it into a fantasy

The blame for _’s mindsets shouldn’t be all on rap, but I think we lying if we saying rap can’t potentially reinforce it, just keeping it a bill

Trouble on why he started rapping more general, so everybody could get something from it

And how he feel like certain music/mindsets can make regular young _’s feel uncomfortable with being 9-5 average joes

Edit: Again not saying rap is the blame but this **** facts fr

GOSPEL

I think this is why Trouble hates a lot of the young ***** rap coming from Atlanta strictly because of this.

Lot of ****** talking that kingpin gangsta **** while downplaying the everyday man but not even like that.

In that same interview he said

"I **** with a lotta music, period," he tells Charlamagne when pressed again about whether or not he likes music from the A. "Atlanta ain't really much ****** that really talking ’bout not nothing. Couple dudes have club songs and all that ****, but I don't really **** with none of that ****."

It's just toooo many _s who are able to get on songs talk greasy and roam freely without getting checked for doing so.

....and this is EXACTLY why you got snitches and dudes doing time behind s*** they had no business doing. Every n_ ain’t meant to be in the streets. The problem is insecurity and peer pressure. I for one NEVER GAF about n_ opinions. My dad owns a construction business and mom has worked at the hospital for 30+ years. I’ve been wearing designer clothes, Jordan’s, Nike’s, name brand s**** since a kid. Everything earned off the muscle. It’s a matter of preference. I knew jail and prison wasn’t for me that’s why I avoided that s****. If you naive enough to risk your freedom over some trivial s*** than you’re dumb.

I talk to all my people who’ve 5, 10, 20 year bids, etc and they all regret it. it’s all a matter of preference. People need to be taught more about not giving AF about other people’s opinions. Because at the end of the day, they gone laugh at you when you work at Walmart, and they gone LAUGH at you when your house get raided. They gone laugh at your mugshot too.

many of us have seen houses in the hood get raided. Everyone and they auntie outside, looking and laughing at you. Either way, people gone talk down on you. Even them dope boys or scammers who “fall off” they laugh at you. So at the end of the day, nobody cares
