Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Majority of that snap music, ringtone, goofy dance **** wasn't good. Nothing hater about calling that out.

Exactly bruh. And rap is WORSE now than it was then. And I’m from the South. That snap s*** wash trash.

Adult men wanting to justify listening to that mess. Grown men wanted an excuse to listen to only booty shaking music, smh. Hate these n!!

No one is saying feel good/party music is bad. Definitely not the case. But some fools like to go overboard with their stance. I bet D4L or dem franchise boys rather be known for music similar to Gucci, jeezy, or T.I. rather than their snap music. I bet $100 on it

Same with Soulja Boy. Because the HHID movement was more so geared at dudes like him.

You think Soulja Boy wants to be remember for “Crank Dat”? Nope. That’s why he tried so hard to reinvent himself and resurrect himself as a thug/gangster. That’s why his music changed.

He’s so dead set on letting people know that he’s about his issue and is street. Damn near all them dudes who made that type of music (from 2005-2008 ) ringtone rap, snap, boot shaking music, etc. tried to reinvent themselves because they didn’t want to be attached to that sound. All them dudes started gravitating towards street and gutta music

The DMX doc :smh: You can tell they had to piece it together because of some of his problems. I think dude was just in the hood too much. Did he ever try counseling, because I always felt his addiction came from his pain as a child. He was just so happy at times, then go to the other extreme. And him not caring about the contract, essentially because he money didn't matter because he wasn't going to get any of the money anyway. Def Jam essentially just gave him a charity contract anyway, because damn his rapping wasn't good at the end. I understood what Paul was doing, but it wasn't a good business decision. Even a posthumous album didn't work for them. Damn, I really hope they handle dogs estate for his kids sake. I got a DMX shirt the other day. Paige called him dad, caught me off guard.

I think I was watching something on Ralph McDaniel's a couple of years ago and he was talking about all the hours of footage he had. Glad he's doing something with it. Nas explaining the wipe me down scene  Now we need Beans to explain his Peedi scene, but something tells me he can't even remember it.

Actually wish I had that, only got the explicit CD. Paid like $6 when Best Buy was doing their blowout sale.

Bone didn't stand a chance. East '99 is an absolute classic, however, 3-6 is far too hype. I don't think Bone won a single round.

P.S. Cannot bring Bizzy anywhere. Wish shined as far as Bone was concerned. All that lip synching early on was nearly Dipset level bad.

“Hyperness” equates to better music? Please make it make sense..
