Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

In relation to selling an actual virtual download of the album?
Say I want to buy a album, does the artist really get $1 from however much they charge for it?

Remember hearing that being a thing. Think that was when Best Buy/Target was phasing out music CD sales.

I don't want a digital release of any music preferably, I have streaming for that.

Interesting question. Never thought about it as far as digital versus actual CD.

It seems like artist/labels would want to incentive you to buy the album instead of streaming. Like how they used to put bonus cuts, and not just bonus cuts a week or two later to keep the album in new releases to get you to stream.

CD's required shipping and production. Artist should make more, but that money now goes to Apple or whoever you bought it from, which is kind of crazy, because they did nothing other than hosting it and having it under new releases or searchable.

And do the artist get the sales numbers from Apple/Amazon or the label saying what it did.

Never gave him a chance, but old friend of mines who was a fan basically used that song as my introduction to him.
