I don’t know if the labels have the budget to sign all these artists and give them album advances like they used to.
It’s pretty plausible that they’re signing these folks to some new “singles” deals where they’re hoping to catch a hit that lasts a few months.
Cardi broke the mold in a way, because most wouldn’t have thought she’d be bigger than Bodak and put out an album that actually stuck. But she’s a one off, and it seems like labels have been trying to replicate that success. But these joints ain’t it.

Cardi’s album was so well manufactured. Damn near every song could’ve been singles (they may actually have been), and just overall extremely polished. There’s no way she’ll strike lightning in a bottle like that ever again, and that’s definitely the reason she hasn’t released another album yet.
