Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

This what I love most about this. And I feel like Kendrick saying F the industry multiple times has been overlooked. He knew going at Drake he would also be going against the machine. Bro is truly doing this for the culture. Makes the first part of 6:16 that even more powerful.
"I crash out, like **** rap..."

In a rap beef, what do you guys value more: witty responses that aren't factual or factual, okay bars?

Idk about this. Not Like us is a hit and along with Euphoria is topping the charts. Why would UMG want to bury them?

Kendrick is not nearly as valuable as Drake.

There’s a class of artist like Taylor, Drake, Weeknd, Ariana Grande that print money. They feeding everybody at that label.

A regular L is fine. But if that groomer/pedo stigma sticks he’s cooked.

Kendrick has probably cost him money already.

Not Like Us & Euphoria are topping the charts now, but Drake is The Machine’s prized possession.

They can’t have their main money maker being associated with words like predator and p*do ****.

Which is a part of the reason this Kendrick diss is even more fire. He went after the head honcho with all the $ behind him and still won in a landslide. He made it so bad that no rapper has even come out to defend Drake. Where’s the 1000s of collaborators in the rap game that he’s worked with at?

Honestly, the 2nd verse is the highlight of Not Like Us. As the young kids say, he was skating.

The entire 2nd half of the song is flames.
The 2nd verse he turns up the energy.
The 3rd verse he drops straight facts about the colonizer.
The outro he got everybody to dance and go crazy

The outro is damn near the best part.
HE A FAN
HE A FAN
HE A FAN

If that UMG stuff is true, they trash.

If drake wasn't acting so sus for so long, there would be no pedo accusations.

Why doesn't UMG address that....

Lol while Drake skates free on calling Kendrick an abuser? Ain’t no way they’re agreeing to this if it happens to be true
I don’t think that’s true. But if it is, both sides would likely apologize, Al’s no Kendrick is not going to buck the money men. But I doubt it’s real anyway

The Drake and Weeknd beef is another one that might involve street dudes. I've heard Weeknd's man Cashxo got ties, I don't know if that's why his house got shot at last week. Helluva coincidence that both situations a bodyguard got shot.

First thing that came to mind. Xo has TIES to THINGS.

I value outright disrespect and character assassination

if you can make it sound good and put it to fire lyrics, even better
Let's say Kendrick diss is all based on lies, it is good but does it hold weight? Some of the females have come to Drake defense. Just wondering, if it's a banger for you guys.

Sheesh

We've had some fire albums drop so far this year in the lead up to this too. It truly has been a moment in Hip Hop man that we'll be looking back on for a long time...

Given the state of the game, I don't think we can expect to see anything close to this in the future either. Don't think there's any 'Big 4' caliber guys out there amongst the newer generation of artists.

A lot of them don't even **** with or care much for the whole artistry of it all in the first place to even get to that level.

Now that we in chill mode what's y'all's final count and track rankings of the beef?

Based on the track order list Dot basically swept this dude with the timing and strategy, but Family Matters is def one of the top tracks to come outta this whole joint it just got **** on immediately.

Here's my list:
1. Euphoria
2. Like That
3. Family Matters
4. Not Like Us
5. Meet the Grahams (may be the best diss track ever but feel dirty listening to it haha)
6. 616 in LA
7. Push Ups
8. The Heart Part 6
