RIP New York Hip-Hop? (Need Some Feedback)

By being the standard bearer of real rap. None of this southern and Canadian ****. He was authentic and incredibly talented.
Serious question, have you even listened to a full Chinx project? He was much more than a coke boy rapper. Son was incredibly versatile. Listen to the Cocaine Riot series and I'll Take It From Here.
CR5 was a damn masterpiece.

Never listened to a whole chinx project... He's a COKE BOY , im pretty sure 95 percent of his songs are about how much coke he sold... that one song about 'his struggle" or " younger days" doesnt take away the fact that most of his music was drug related... when an artist establishes himself as a cocaine pusher im pretty sure most of the rhyme will reflect that... when i was young it was cool to listen to , but knowing people that's really about that life makes me not even care for that variety of rap.. to say he's MUCH MORE than a coke boy rapper takes away from real artist with actual versatility.

Listened to the joints Peep posted...

They can rap I guess but just like Troy Ave, we've already seen this before...

The South didn't get to where they are at trying to remake OutKast albums.

But I'm not an NYer so really who am I to tell you what to like...

To me this was a perfect 2010's NY sounding record...

The south didn't make Outkast albums, because they're not talented enough to.

Th guys putting out music aren't even talented enough to make TI or Jeezy albums, that's why they do Gucci and Future.

It's easy to spit gibberish and nonsense. Anyone off the block is putting out music.

Shots at Gucci and Future aside...

The point is: when this current style started, it was a relatively new thing compared to the past of Southern rap...

Future sounds like nobody before him...

Thug started out influenced by Wayne but by Rich Gang Tha Tour, Thug sounds like no one else before him...

Who in NY rap is coming with a new/refreshing sound right now other than Rocky who for some reason seems to be overlooked by NYers...what is your equivalent to a Chance The Rapper, Young Thug, Future or even a Drake (who even with all the wave riding, does have a pretty unique sound when he gets in his bag with 40)...

If Westside and Conway were from the city they would get a lot more attention.

Because they really do bring back the feeling.
Yea i think them being from Buffalo hurts them but theyre both nice. I prefer Conway more but Westside seems more out there at the moment

Get
on YouTube and listen to hall & nash .

I prefer Griselda Ghost but Hall & Nash fire too. Cant wait for part 2

And Troy Ave wishes he was as good & legit as Conway. NY just dont wanna hear ppl with an NY sound anymore, they just wanna be ATL or drill clones like the rest of the country :smh:

So you don't care if it's good, as long as it's different?

How is Drake different than Max B?

What's so different about Future? He's like a hardcore T-Pain.

Young Thug is a mumbling Lil Wayne.

You act like they're bringing something new an innovative.

Where did I say "I don't care if it's good." If any of the aforementioned artists don't make good music to you, cool. That's subjective. Me and millions of others think they make great music, in their own ways.

Where's a Max B song like Club Paradise? The Calm? Fear? The Ride? What the hell are you talking about man?

Where's a T-Pain song like Codeine Crazy? Percocets and Strippet Joint? Trap ******? From someone who loves T-Pain's first three albums and think that his first two are arguably classics, I can definitely say you're wilding.

Wayne's melodies were never as good as Thug's and his punchlines are way more predictable and formulaic. After 2008 it's all poop punchlines and how good he eats *****. Recently he's gotten better but that lean messed up his voice.

If I pick up a guitar that don't make me Prince *****.

You NY dudes are hilarious man.

It's that sort of provincialism that killed NY in the first place.
The South consolidated power by moving together. I guess that mentality is just baked in the NY cake.

Unfortunately it's the case.

New York is divided by burroughs, upstate getting shine on New York radio? They barely play locals.

Much less Jersey, Connecticut or Philly. Unfortunately it's the way it is.

I don't think it was intentional from the south. They had so few artist at one point they were willing to give Eightball & MJG or UGK a chance.

I think the division comes when you're on top.

It's the same thing with their personality and flavor mixed in. Don't act like they created some new phenomenon. Drake can't do Max B, because he's a simp.

So why did you just say Max B is no different than Drake but now "Drake can't do Max B"?

You don't know what you're trying to say man.

****** always asking me the key
'Til you own your own you can't be free
'Til you're on your own you can't be me
How we still slaves in 2016?

i love  jay z  verse from i got the keys  but these few lines stood out to me

The first sentence negated your whole post. How you judge an artist and have such a strong opinion about his body of work when you haven't even heard a whole project, and you based all that off his group name...

There's a huge divide between Upstate and NYC period, regardless of some Hip Hop ****. People Upstate don't consider NYC to be real New Yorkers and vice versa. However, NYC created this culture. I do *** with Westside Gunn and Doppelgangaz from Upstate tho.

Not sure about what's real New York, but the rest of New York might as well be Canada beyond Westchester County to me.
