RIP Nipsey Hussle

It's 2019, not like the internet is this mythical place anymore. Got people from ALL walks of life on here.

I graduated high school in 2006. A lot of my boys banged gd becasue well... we’re in the Midwest and their damn parents and grandparents did. Anyways we all like j’s And Nike’s and were all on nt

People act like becasue you bang this or that you are not a regular person.

Thing is... like dacomeup dacomeup said, it's 2019. EVERYTHING is different now. EVERYTHING revolves around our phone / Internet. That accounts for people in all walks of life.

Social Media is popular... What's one thing that is persistent throughout all the years? If it's popular everybody wants in on it. EVERYBODY.

I know shooters / hustlers who use IG more than I do! Who won't log the **** off.

Everybody want's to be involved with whats poppin.
You probably right guess since I know a few that’s still “old school” that messes up my overall pov. You’re right though dudes do snitch online a lot nowadays.

I don’t think nobody said they weren’t regular just they weren’t online as much. Two different things imo. That’s like thinking Lebron or most rich and famous people posting on here all day long. You just assume (wrongly maybe) they have better things to do than be online posting constantly.

Facts. Like you, graduated HS in 07, same time frame. Some of my boys GD's , got a couple Vicelords as homies as well. Not to mention my family is comprised of Maniac Latin Disciples & Spanish Cobras in Chicago. (Both folks but rivals... Family functions are always wild for me )

Police have whole units dedicated to looking at gang/drug **** online. There's no separation anymore. Social media opened all those doors. You got respected OGs who are telling old stories through social media as well. All of this stuff is blurred together now.

what the hell kind of comparison was that LeBron and gang members?

Of course an NBA superstar doesn't have time to be on here all day but most gang members aint doing **** all day

People saying “he was in a gang , what you expect” are super foul. That’s not how things are SUPPOSED to be. You can’t play the “what you expect” game when it comes to people lives .

Sounds like your minimizing the death. Also by saying that you’re excusing the killer. If Nipsey death is expected cause he was a gang , the on the other end you saying well the other dude in a gang he supposed to kill somebody .

This **** not normal and not how it’s supoosed to be ... ever , no matter where you from , who you hang with , etc.

And i feel Like the main ones saying it never had somebody lost to violence and never been close to any hood.

I was just typing this.

I know for me, there's a discussion that needs to be had w/respect to how we love and glorify gang culture, gang imagery, gang idolatry, then get sad when **** like this happens. This is especially true in LA, (this part of LA) where it's rampant. Hard to have that convo right now about Nip though because so many people are hurting

But to me, To discuss Nipsey Hussle's life and what he meant to this community, is inherently discussing his place and role in the glorification of gang life and gang culture in the city, and as he grew more popular, society as a whole.

Thank you. People love sleeping with the enemy reminds me of the gun violence discussion.

Monday: "we love guns, everyone should have guns"
Tuesday: *mass shooting*
Wednesday: "we've got to do something about all these guns!"

Going down memory lane here, it’s like that in the Midwest.

For the people questioning his affiliation. Remember Crips were originally formed to protect the neighborhood, and 1 killing from their opposing gang started gang wars for years.
.
They don’t understand brother. The whole idea of a gang/tribe is to protect our own.
Some of us don’t need the government to make decisions for us. Yeah, we’ll follow in accordance but don’t treat me like I ain’t ****. They already fn us up as is. For those that don’t understand how the west coast/CA rocks in regards to banging i advise u to read Melvin farmers “the new slave ship”.

Is this actually true? People say this all the time.

People want to do their best to try and turn the narrative into a good one. That narrative just sounds better than two ****** cliquing together to fight off other hoods. Remember, gangs and hood **** didn't start with the Crips

Quick google Search:

The CRIPs were not always the gang-bangers they are known to be. The CRIPs were formed in 1969. Raymond Washington, a high school student at the time founded the organization in response to the increasing level of police harassment of the Black community.

CRIPs stood for Community Resources for Independent People. It was styled on the Black Panther Party which was formed 3 years earlier, by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, further down the west coast in Oakland.

There were many organizations springing up around the same time all over the country with the same ideas of protecting and serving the community.

Like so many of these organizations, their commitment to these basic values was not given the opportunity to run its course.

I guess what I should have asked is: "is there any actual testimony from Raymond/Tookie/original crips that confirms this?"

Nothing in that article gives any evidence that was Raymond Washington's original intentions
