The Niners are desperate for someone opposite of Justin Smith, although he may not be an every down DE due to his lack of size, he has a chance to help us inour 3-4 as a OLB.
We thought he was going to be a taken a little earlier, but we're glad he dropped to us! We couldn't pass up such a talent and fills one of our greaterneeds on the team!

Aaron Maybin, the former PSU defensive end who declared for the NFL draft following his redshirt sophomore season, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds this morning (March 1during PSU's Pro Day workout on campus.
The 6-4 Maybin has also gained 25 pounds since the middle of January, bulking up from 227 to 252. At the NFL scouting combine last month, Maybin's 40 time was in the mid-4.7 range.
The Curious Case of Aaron Maybin helped make this decision, whateverhelped him gain that 25lbs (and I can care less), confirms that there would be NO reason for him to bulk up even more to be a DE in the NFL.
He beasted for PSU @ 227lbs, 227 pounds!!!
If all else fails, he does have potential to be help us in the 3-4 as an OLB.
It works out. We have 2 good second rounders to help fill more needs.

After further review, the League feels it didn't punish the 49ers enough for tampering (Lance Briggs) so it is taking away their 2009 1st round pickeffective AFTER Atlanta picks

considering all the players we wanted at 10 were taken, we were able to move that pick and get an addition 3 picks AND still get a player that fills a need.
