$40k is low income if you are a single parent raising a kid. There are so many government funding for a women with that scenario but I think she only exploits that one. Hell, I got some sort of assistance when I first moved out but I was making like $38k and got an apartment for $800 (back in 200
and it should have gone for $1k. If you find a apartment complex with a lot of decent sized units, they are opt to having a certain amount that are reserved for low income people. Of course qualifying isn't the easiest thing ever and if you do, living with that sort of income is super difficult. I would literally be on my last $20 bill the day before I got paid each 2 weeks. It was tough.
I know a girl that just capitalized in SF on a low income condo recently. She made $60k at the time and registered to get a brand condo in the Mission for like $400k rather than the $800k it's worth. The catch is in these scenarios is you can own the condo but when you sell it, you only can sell it for what you bought it for. So she qualified for this spot cause she is technically single with two kids. After she won the lottery system, she got a new job where she makes $90k now and her now boyfriend is living with her and is also helping on the mortgage. I think for the most part, she pays less than what normal people pay in SF for rent and now has money left over to spend it on her leisure life. Crazy.....her having two kids by accident literally gave her this opportunity.
