I like the trade but don't love it. While its nice to have another ace type guy I would have preferred a bat even if Ohtani and Soto were off the table.

I think JD Martinez can be had for a reasonable price, not sure who else is out there really. Ohtani was/is a long shot this season for anyone, Arte is too greedy and needs the gate, concession, and Japan money. Soto also seemed out of reach too because I couldn’t imagine Jerry giving up Kirby along with the Castillo package and more.
