20 for Seager

, first since? it's been at least 5-6 years I think

They've shortened the power-alley... now all we need is some power.

:lol :{ It's been fun folks. I will now help Jack Z move the walls in, while he goes out and gets a Scott Spiezio/Aurilia/Cirillo/Olivo/Everett type to fill the "power" role.

Pending big signings, this team is in 4th again next season.

Another season in the bag y'all, I'm just glad we're under 90 wins this year.
This year has really been an experience year for the young bats, I'm really excited for next season.

It would be nice, but I don't think we need to sign a big bat to compete next year. I'm looking for our young guys step it up, and the pitching to be a bit more dominant. It's been nice though fellas, go Blue and Teal!

Another losing season but there were some nice positives this year. Like already mentioned finally under 90 losses. The no no and the perfect game :hat

Offense still sucked overall but at least there were glimpses good hitting...even at Safeco :eek

Theres a good amount of guys I can see stepping up big next year. Hopefully and we'll see what the kids can do a full year without Ichiro

The emergance of Erasmo is pleasing. Cant wait to see what he does next year and how soon Hultzen will arrive

Seager and Saunders :hat

Jaso learn to play 1st asap

Ack's bat sucked but hey his glove is proving to more solid than ppl think...his bat will catch up

I got more ramblings but I'll end here :lol

see yall next year bros...wildcard spot 8)

It's been fun (kinda) guys!

Figgins Wants Out Of Seattle

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [October 4, 2012 at 10:21am CST]

Three quarters of the way through a disappointing four-year contract, Chone Figgins wants out of Seattle. The 34-year-old utility player told John Hickey of SportsPressNW.com that he’d prefer not to play for the Mariners any longer (Twitter link).

"I can't take two more years of this," Figgins said.

Figgins' four-year, $36MM contract includes an $8MM salary in 2013 and a $9MM vesting option for 2014. He appeared in 66 games this year, posting a .181/.262/.271 batting line in 194 plate appearances. Figgins played third base and all three outfield positions, but appeared in Just four games from September on.

For as crappy as he's been, there's no way he should be making demands :lol stick his *** at the end of the bench and let him rot there.

Offense actually showed signs of life this year and if they move in the fences, who knows? Even Montero said that hitting there kinda brought his whole demeanor down so we'll have to wait and see.

Great prospects and a not so crappy offense is a lot to forward to. Plus, you get to beat up on Houston a little bit next year :lol

Had no idea Figgins was still breathing these days..good news he's actually alive though

Forgot about the Houston move. M's might actually not finish in last next year

Hopefully Zunino can be on the opening day roster next season, wishful thinking, but theres a good chance I think he can be a FT catcher. Move Montero to DH, Jaso to 1st, and Millwood to the retirement home.

Sad thing is, I could see this team signing a guy like Marco Scutaro or Placido Polanco to add power and veteran presence to the lineup.

 *Prays Im wrong

They kinda have to at this point, no? Some middle of the order bat to take the pressure off these kids especially if they move the fences in. I'd love to see them open the pockets for Hamilton. One of the few good scenarios for him.

I could see them offering Hamilton, but it'll probably be short of what he wants and what he'll most likely get..like with Fielder last year

Would be nice if he did end up signing here, seeing him get booed off the diamond last night at home - it'd be a nice story especially if he can regain his form. But you're right, Pabs, I'm not holding my breath but potential signings like BJ Upton or Cody Ross amongst others should make the off season very exciting just like last years

It's a good time to be a Mariners fan because things are looking up.

You guys should laugh at BJ and Ross TBH :lol

I think if Josh is smart, Seattle would be one of those perfect landing spots for him. I doubt he gets the years and money he wants too. I could see Seattle "overpaying" by a couple years just to secure him. That would actually be an offense you go in to a series fearing a bit. Peavy might be another one you should look at.

I've hated Seattle since I was a kid for 95 :lol but I do want to see them be better.
Market for Drew
10:19AM ET

[h5]Stephen Drew | Athletics[/h5]

The Oakland Athletics, who have at least another week to evaluate Stephen Drew on the field, have a decision to make on the shortstop's 2013 option that would pay him $10 million. It's a mutual option that if bought out by the club would send Drew to the open market.

If that occurs, Drew would easily serve as the top free agent at his position, and a number of potential fits may surface. The A's could try to bring back Drew on a multi-year deal at a lesser average annual value, an CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman suggests via Twitter that the Detroit Tigers could make a play for Drew.

In order to do so, the Tigers would have to do one of two things. They could decline the option on shortstop Jhonny Peralta or move Miguel Cabrera to designated hitter and slide Peralta to third base.

Another potential landing spot, albeit one of the outside-the-box variety, for Drew is in Atlanta, his hometown team. He'd have to change positions -- to third base to replace the retiring Chipper Jones or to second base with incumbent Dan Uggla moving to the hot corner.

The Giants, Mariners and Red Sox could also show interest.
Iwakuma or Vargas?
8:14AM ET

[h5]Hisashi Iwakuma | Mariners[/h5]

Right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma finished his first season in Major League Baseball Tuesday with another strong outing and finished the year with a 2.65 ERA in 16 starts. The 31-year-old right-hander is now set up to cash in via free agency.

He was noncommittal after that start, writes MLB.com's Greg Johns, but the Seattle Mariners are almost certain to have strong interest in bringing him back. General manager Jack Zduriencik may have to choose between Iwakuma and the arbitration-eligible Jason Vargas, who could make more than $8 million next season.

The Mariners do have payroll space with which to tinker their roster, especially since Ichiro Suzuki's contract is now off the books. Despite the expectation that most of the club's financial flexibility will be spent on offense, I contend they'll trade for offense and pay to shore up the starting rotation.

Iwakuma is no slam dunk to return, however. He proved his shoulder is healthy -- one of the concerns over the past two years when he posted in 2010 and hit the open market last winter -- and his success in the states is now somewhat tangible.

The A's won the bid on him two winters ago, but don't figure to be a club with strong interest this time around as their roster is littered with young starting pitching.
Kuma > Vargas
