**Seattle Mariners 2024 Season Thread ** | ELIMINATED |

Oh well.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports spoke with Price's agent, Bo McKinnis, this morning at the Winter Meetings and was told that Price would not sign a long-term deal if he were traded to the Mariners. McKinnis told Rosenthal that Price would consider signing an extension with other clubs, but wouldn't disclose which clubs in which Price would have interest. Rosenthal stresses that this doesn't preclude the Mariners from acquiring Price anyway

Prospects for a two year rental would be senseless. True dysfunction if we STILL trade for Price knowing he won't be here in two years.

Interesting 14 minute interview with Jack Z on Hot Stove yesterday, I'm actually not disliking him.

See what these guys have done to us? Cruz, Price, no one wants to play in Seattle. Cano did because he wasn't getting that once in a lifetime contract anywhere else. It's been this way for years, Fielder didn't want to come, Hamilton, Upton, Cruz, Price, who wants to play for this dysfunctional team?

Not too heartbroken over Price, especially if it involved someone most of us didnt want to leave in the first place.

Still some guys out there....Garza, Santana, Colon. Would be nice additions to the rotation.

M's are one the leading teams for Choo.

Still hoping Kemp is possible

I'm intrigued with Santana. He seems like the exact kind of pitcher who is later in his career that can thrive at Safeco. An all-time great who knows how to pitch and will be in a pitchers ballpark. Makes too much sense to me.

A perfect compliment and change-of-pace pitcher if you plug him between Felix and Kuma. Get a quality lefty in that rotation too.

Didnt even think of Johan. I was thinking Ervin, but you're right about Johan, if he can stay healthy. He would fit in nicely

Corey Hart.
Nice Power bat. I like it, I like it

I wonder if being RH will be a problem though?

Whoops. Naturally, I'd think Johan.

I like Corey Hart. Defense is marginal, but to your point Pabs...I think his power at Safeco could translate to gap to gap power. Homers might go down, but I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the league in doubles while in Seattle.

Edit: Also...M's get Logan Morrison from Marlins for Carter Capps. An under-the-radar ballplayer. I like it.

I don't know much about Logan... what's the word?

What happens to Smoak now?

Good hitter. Another marginal defensive player, but can play OF and 1B and he's in Seattle to hit. I always felt he was under the radar because he was in Miami, but he's been injured here and there, which can look like regression. If he stays healthy then he'll be a quality player.

I hope Smoak sticks around for another year. This lineup is shaping up to be pretty decent and I wanna see some of these younger guys have a chance in a lineup with a little protection cloaked around them.

Same here dont know much about him, alot of people seem pretty high on the kid though.

Numbers looked good in his first couple years and tapered off.

Edit: thanks for the clarification Paul

I wonder if Smoak is gone too or they keep him but it does give them some flexibility if an good offer is out there.

Kendrys is pretty much out the picture I assume? We still get a pick when he signs elsewhere yeah?

Yup, M's get a pick if Morales signs elsewhere.

Jack Z is looking like he's in "U Mad?" Mode right now.

Kendrys would be great in this lineup too. :{

I don't know. Logan can play a few positions and Corey is even more of a utility knife on defense. OF, 1B, 3B....Love the flexibility in stockpiling players like this, but it hurts Kendrys when his only real value is at DH.

I like the Hart pickup. Don't really know anything about Morrison but it looks like he hasn't played up to his potential so far in his career.

1. Brad Miller - SS
2. Kyle Seager - 3B
3. Robinson Cano - 2B
4. Corey Hart - RF
5. Kendrys Morales - DH
6. Justin Smoak - 1B
7. Logan Morrison - LF
8. Mike Zunino - C
9. Dustin Ackley - CF

Saunders the odd man out in this scenario, but if Morales is gone then the flexibility of this lineup goes up ten fold. Hart, Morrison, Saunders and Smoak can all be on rotation for DH.

Edit: Forgot about Almonte, but also this means trading Franklin is a must almost. Just no room for him.

Like the Hart pickup, and I honestly never cared to pick up Price. I would rather just sign a vargas type guy and go for some offense. I also have a feeling Nelson still might end up here. Choo Choo would be a nice also.

I really hope Almonte is an opening day starter in the outfield

Looks like Kemp is off the block

Not much room for Montero either, he might be on his way out as well, he has no position to fill really
