Unidentified AL West team made LHP Matt Thornton an offer today.
hmmmm

Love the acquisitions of Hart/Morrison. Especially Capps for Morrison, he's a clear upgrade over Smoak with minus the power hitting and the high K rate %. I don't like his defense in the OF nor Harts for that matter but these are good problems to have. Smoak, Kendrys, and even Franklin might not have places to play next season. Think their still in on Choo, with Cruz right behind their priority list. I thank Price for coming out and saying he won't sign an extension with the M's if traded here. The quality of prospects given up is far more valuable than any 2 year rental you'd get.

Cano press conference at 12. I hope he shows some happiness about being in Seattle even though we all know it was about the money. :lol

Its going to be the same thing as always. "They have young outstanding talent here and will be a playoff contender in the near future"

So surreal watching that press conference, this is our guy now...

I know he hasn't had a history of being a consistent leader, but I hope that changes.

100 days until SpringTraining.

Just so weird seeing Jay-Z actually associated with something Seattle-related lol. Oh well, next step is get an NBA team back, Durant leaves OKC, comes to Seattle, HOV gonna run this town too.

Wasn't really feelin how he sounded in the interview with espn....

You could tell he knew that everybody else knows he signed just for the money and was trying to be real defendant about it. I reaaally hope I'm wrong but that interview didn't give me much confidence in him.

you really thought he signed for another reason?

Didn't get the to see the press conference, grandma called and wanted to go to lunch. I can't say no to her.
Sounds like it went just like i expected though :lol

I mean I'd like to make myself believe atleast that he wanted to be the new face of the Mariners and take them to the next level. He didn't even do a good job at the usual BS'ing that guys usually do in this case. Just didn't like the guy's attitude at all

I get what you're saying its understandable.. but I dont see his attitude being different than him bs'ing just to convince ourselves as fans he's doing it for more than money. Its obvious that was thee #1 priority but it doesnt make me feel he cant be a great ballplayer still..I'll wait till they hit the field before I believe he Andrew Bymum'd the M's

I guess I just dont put much stock into pressers.

As a Sixers fan....Andrew Bynum could not be a greater comparison to what I felt with hearing Cano talk.

Atleast Cano isn't damaged goods like him. He's been one of the most durable players in baseball.

I know

Nice to think about though especially considering the resources the team has right now. I'd like Choo as much as the next guy but I don't want another 7/8 yr deal to be handed out to him, especially one north of 20M annually.

Hopefully the team does indeed have interest.

Do you guys think Choo or Cruz could be had for less considering they're still sitting on the market?

I thought they would have signed by now

Cruz.

Choo turned down 7 year - $140 million from the Yankees because he wanted more money.
