The trick is to BE present (as opposed to living for the present), while still living for the future.

That way you enjoy the process/journey. Once you do that, the delay or lack of immediate hedonistic satisfaction becomes a non-issue because you don't care about that anymore.

It's like climbing a mountain. If you just enjoy pushing yourself to the top, you won't even think about the frequent rests you're missing out on. Then before you know it, you're there at the top and you enjoyed the journey. Everyone else is still caught up taking rests, never really getting ahead.
