***SF Giants 2009 Season Thread (88-74)***

What did Sandoval do? I didn't watch the end of the game. Still, it's Howry

. I don't expect much out of him, especially when the Giants have a chance to win.

^he dropped a foul ball from Colby Rasmus. then the next pitch was a debatable strike 3 that was called ball 3. then the next pitch Rasmus hit a walk-off HR todeep right center.

imo, an error on a foul ball should never be the focus of blame for a loss. a foul ball is a LUCKY out. those are never guaranteed to begin with. the strike(or what should have been a strike) is what led to the loss. the umpire had been calling that pitch for the whole game. some of the strikes he called werepretty out there. not pablo's fault. i think cain should have stayed in the game if only to whittle down his ERA even more. i blame this loss on Ishikawaactually. he cannot keep having these hat-tricks every other game. he HAS to make contact.
click the sig to see sandoval in a funny situation!

giants had this game in the top of the eighth loading the bases with NOBODY OUT and only get 1 run out of it? and with errors by renteria, molina and sandovalis not gna cut it. giants deserve to lose this game

I could not disagree more. An error is an error, whether it's on a foul ball or not. I don't see how making a person hit a foul ball islucky.

About Cain, yeah his ERA is the most important thing, right?? Are you serious? You're trying to win the damn game not better someone's stats. At thatpoint in the game, outs were at a premium. They most likely do not score in the 8th inning if Cain hits. Since you're so into stats, it would've hurtCain since he most likely would've gotten the loss instead of a no decision.

Click the sig? I'll pass. Quit promoting +#%$ in all your posts.

did anyone see the 1st and 10 segment talking about how the giants are 8 games above 500 (now 7) and if they should consider signing barry bonds for thestretch run?

Oh. I still don't think it would have mattered with Pujols coming up though. If they brought in Howry because of Pujols then they wereprobably going to pitch to him. As long as the Giants take the series then a loss is fine. Hopefully they come through tomorrow.

We had our chance to pull away with the bases loaded and no outs. Come on now. The game was a wrap when Howry came in. Makes me wish we had Tyler Walkeragain... ok maybe not.

Bochy should have let Affeldt go one more. He only threw 11 pitches in the ninth. Lame.

The time to free John Bowker is NOW!

I just want to see if he's got anything left in the tank.

word. Bowker is killin it in AAA.

I really wanted to see lewis succeed but that ship has sailed. The Giants need to give up on that experiment.

you're calling Fred Lewis an experiment? last year, he scored the 2nd most runs on the team and he had 25 2B, 11 3B, and 9 HRs. how'sthat an experiment? john bowker is an experiment

I'm on the Bowker bandwagon right now. I know Ishikawa is on a little streak right now, but I want to see what Bowker can do in the bigs right now.

I hope Im wrong, but I see John Bowker as another AAAA player that the Giants have always had in their system. Too good for AAA, not nearly good enough for thebigs......(Todd Linden, Lance Niekro, Jason Ellison, Daniel Ortmeier, Tony Torcato, Damon Minor.....I could go on forever! Oh yeah....and FRED LEWIS.)

I hope I am wrong about Bowker though. He had some serious holes in his swing when he was here last.

Probably out of all those guys you listed I hated Lance Niekro the most simply because he took play time away from Snow.

^ Is there going to be another one of those picnic on the field things like last year for the season ticket holders?

There's a Romo & Torres signing at Giants Dugout across from my work at Serramonte.

July 11th. First 250 fans, I believe.

Yeah, it's on Saturday August 8th. I called the season ticket hotline a few weeks back to find out the date. The lady asked me if I was a season ticketholder, and I was like "Uhhh...yeah. My uncle is."

Have you been trying to get autographs at the park this season?

Okay Mr. Mad, I'll bite. Cain gave up 1 run in the 1st. Since then, he was in machine mode. How many 1-2-3 innings did he have? He had a few.By the time he got pulled his pitch count was in the 80's I believe. I'm sure he would still have enough in the tank to continue to shut out the Cards. What I'm suggesting should have happened was that Cain stall until our offense can score a run or two. Yes, Lewis came in and doubled, eventually scoringon a sac fly, but we did lose the game by giving up another run. Even without hindsight, I would have liked to see Cain hold the fort. He's used tothrowing tons of pitches. He has done this throughout his career.

I'm not a big stats guy, actually, but would have liked to see Cain come out with his 10nth win. That would certainly help him towards a Cy Young. Iaugured that he would win it this year, and I still contend that he will, but this win would have made it easier on the voters. What I meant to say by himwhittling down his ERA...if he holds the fort, of course his ERA will go down. I'm counting on the fact that Cain will continue to shut the Cards out andas a result shrink his ERA. Of corse the safes thing to is pinch hit, but I tend to go for broke more often than not. One more thing, don't knock the sig, please?
