Shooting Reported at Las Vegas Casino Hotel

A lot of gun owners I know, myself included, own because of how many illegal firearms are out there and the ease of anyone to own a weapon. I would rather be in the have group than the have not when faced with a choice.

I 100% support stricter laws and regulations. I even support taking guns away if that were feasible.

I want something to be done at least. Some kind of acknowledgement that action is needed to stop this wanton slaughter of people regularly.

What needs to be done? I don't know. I just don't want this to be a partisan talking point.

unfortunately it will be just that.

The saddest part is that they are the most influential news Network in America.

A recent study showed watching Fox News makes people way more conservative than they would have been. So a moderate could start watching Fox News, become a hard right conservative, but still think they are moderate and reasonable.

It has probably swung elections too.

Fox News is a damn far right propaganda machine. America would be a better place without it.

How do you know you haven't been subjected to a different sort of propaganda on the other side of things that altered your perspective?

Not saying that your perspective can't be right, but I'd hope you'd be open to accepting that you're open to manipulation as well.

In regards to this situation, does a culture reflect life or does a life reflect culture?

I think it's a little of both. Through the video games, movies, television, and just the beginnings of this country at some point it was going to reap what it has sown.

They say time and time again history repeats itself, and I've yet to see a time where the people surrendered their rights to a government working in their favor in the long run. I understand that having a government gives people a central point to discuss and regulate general issues, but for the most part I think it's the initial step into eroding someone's personal accountability and having faith in something outside of themselves.

It's unfortunate when these tragedies happen for whatever reason the underlying cultural reason maybe. However, all things in the universe return to chaos and Human psychology is no different. This country has ran its course and is doing what 2nd law of thermodynamics states. From the chaos that ensues a new order will come about. The rise and fall of societies is just as natural as the tide of a sea. In no way am I attempting to be insensitive to the loss of human life, but at some point you have to be mature enough to realize what's happening in your microcosm is no different then what's happened across the macrocosm.

He had 34 guns! 34! 16 in the hotel room.

And people just say no gun problem, let's pray for the victims until the next massacre, then pray again.

this is crazy, just last night i was watching an episode about mass shootings on showtime, the first episode was about the aurora shooting.

it was crazy as hell how some of these indiciduals just see this as a point thing and want to be revered for something so bad even if its murder.

the media has given these suspects so much notoriety and exposure that they have become a little competition for psychos.

I watched it Friday night when it premiered. It's "Active Shooter." It was actually very well done. Apparently they're doing an episode for 8 mass shootings.

Pretty eerie that this happened two days later. I have a feeling those next episodes won't be shown for a while.

Someone give me a good reason why anyone needs to have accesss to this much ammunition?

You can own as many guns as you wish, but regulations need to be put in place about how much ammo one person can have on hand. If you hunt and have a license you can have a set amount. If you go to the range you can store your ammo there to shoot as much as you want, but absolutely no need for any average American to have more then a full clip at any given time.

His brother said he only knew of him having a few handguns. Then the news story showed the gun store that he bought more guns from. he must’ve been stockpiling and planning for a massacre like this.

I don't understand how people of color can advocate a Federal registry of firearms while Donald Trump and his crew are in power.

If you give the government the power to take away guns unilateraly and the first groups guns they are coming for is minorities.

Making it harder for people with mental illness and terrorist ties to get guns sounds good in principle but those terms and be manipulated .

The average white American thinks BLM is a terrorist like organization.

We have a racist megalomaniac in office and y'all want to give him and his elk more power?

My brother makes his own bullets. Uses the shells at the range as casings and then does the rest at home. Honestly regulating bullets won't do much. The guns have to be the harder thing to get and need to be regulated more.

Pretty sure most of us were saying the same thing after the Sandy Hook and San Bernardino . It goes beyond who's in office. Since when is a registry giving power to take your guns away? You have to register your car don't you. If you don't act irresponsibly with a firearm, what's this issue with having a record of who has what so those who either have potential mental issues or shouldn't have them at all because of felonies or whatever don't have access to them.

Who gets to decide and define mental illness?

SO disheartening to read the news throughout the day. RIP to the innocent.

Let me just say...I'm ALL for the right to bear arms. However, to a point. There is no practical reason I can comprehend for a regular civilian to be in possession of anything more than a handgun or shotgun. These ARs, etc. should under no circumstance be issued/sold to anyone who is not military.

This idiot was going to kill regardless, however, I truly believe that those numbers would be drastically smaller had there been stricter gun laws regarding what type of weapons that can be purchased or obtained by regular Joe's.

I can't believe that was a serious question.

Anyway you can come up with dozens of excuses NOT to do anything. But it's abundantly clear that something needs to be done. This isn't normal yet it happens way too frequently in this country.

Bill O'reilly is mostly correct. If you view the #2A as an important freedom, then events like as Vegas are the inevitable cost of that freedom.

The same ones who will write you a medical marijuana card for having stomach aches ?
No. Those are quack Internists that exist in a very small subpopulation of physicians. Decisions regarding mental capacity and mental illness are made by psychiatrists.

God bless those quack physicians, though. People shouldn't even have to justify their marijuana use with this nonsense, but that's a topic for another thread.

Hardcore gun advocates really display the depths of their irrationality after these events

Every single suggestion of change to the current gun laws, no matter how minor, is immediately written off and rejected as pointless

They don't care about anything but their guns
