So I just got Laid Off Today....

My company recently had some lay-offs about a month and a half ago.

Yes, this does happen in the corporate world. I think the most stupidest things that a company can do is to have security guards escort the laid-off employee. I understand they are scared the laid-off person is going to break something in the building but it already causes a scene to see someone with all of their stuff in a box and having two people walking behind him or her.

OP, keep your head up. Take a few days to reflect and to get some rest and relaxation and then get back to applying for jobs. Since I've seen like four lay-offs already, I actually have a plan. I wouldn't want to work a job that is stressful in any sort of way or in my field for the few months. I would still apply for the jobs that are in your field of course but if you could get a gig that is actually not stressful and you are happy, it makes all the difference. If you do land that good job, I am all for it. I think what you need is some time for yourself before you gear up and get at it again. Trust me, it will be good for you.

If you can't find any jobs, you need to volunteer or take some classes. You just need to stay busy. Recruiters and employers look for that to see you were productive while you were laid off. It looks good on your part.

I'm sorry you got laid off but you will find something. Clear your head, have some fun and take advantage of all the free time that you have right now.

Yeah was actually looking into some volunteer work. Should help out with the resume and make it more well rounded.

I'm going to try and use this time to study for the GMAT since I'm looking to go back to school in a year or 2.
