They've just managed to conveniently "forget" the wrongdoings of their ancestors . Minstrel shows were mostly invented in the US, but those performers used to do tours all over Europe as well, so to say that it was an American phenomenon is just 100% not true. A lot of people worldwide have been brainwashed by Europeans into thinking it's not offensive and is just a costume/entertainment, and when you call them out on it, they double down and tell you to stop being sensitive instead.
