(Spoilers) ASOIAF Books Discussion (All Books Read Edition) (Spoilers)

I fear that I'll loose interested in A Dream of Spring after the show ends

I really need to start reading other Fantasy or Sci-fi series.

There was an amazon leak saying March 2017 turned out to be false, but I have a feeling it's coming before the season next year. which is another reason the show is being pushed back to summer.

He has other books that are great reads.

Assasins apprentice series by Robin (????) is pretty good also.

I want to read the Wheel of time series.

which ones?

and did anyone here get the illustrated book 1 game of thrones.
such a beautiful looking hard cover, so glad I got it, I def want the hard covers of the other books in the series now

Just read past the red wedding in storm of swords for the first time (had never read the book in full) and in hindsight the signs were all there. I see now what people meant about the anxiety of the buildup.

Weirdly I found the battle on the fist of the first men more stressful though and I didn't know any of those characters.

^ That is also why you see a lot of people blaming robb for everything that happened.

with Talisa (show) not being in the picture, it takes off that rose colored love story we got, and showcases the real bad decisions robb made. also how his mom tried to stop them each time.

This is why I enjoy Catelyn's chapters (which is pretty unpopular to people 1st read through). she did something really irrational with letting Jamie go, but was also very strategic, a lot of her advice was strategic, but also honorable. more so the way Ned would've done it than Robb

True but Catbwas also foolish with the way she handled Tyrion, Jamie, and even everything she'd advise with regards to Jon Snow.

If she hadn't snatched Tyrion and just waited, her family would still be whole. How did the Starks miss the one slip up that Littlefinger put into his story? Tyrion betting against Jaime? :rollin

yea i mean every Stark has made a dumb movie.

I dont blame her for the Tyrion thing, because all signs pointed to him doing the murder attempt. I think where it went wrong (MY THEORY) little finger was hoping Caitlyn would get him to Robert somehow. This paired with Ned trying to find out if Cersi had bastard kids. would have definitely threw the lannisters out.
LF has always been trying to just get on the come up. I dont think he would've had to work so hard to get where he is now with Robert.

The Jamie thing was a good move in my opinion.

Lannisters would've left starks alone, he would've gotten his daughters back who could have been married off to different houses. it made sense , but it was def an emotional reaction.

Robb and his generals weren't going to live jamie live or leverage him for the right things.

Robb wouldn't have ended the war when he got his sisters back. It was about the principle of the thing. They would have still been at war without any chips to leverage. Tywin never pulls off the alliance with the Freys and Boltons if Jamie's possibly at risk. If the trade had gone through smoothly though there would have just been more bodies at the Red Wedding.

Starks were too weak willed.

How boss would it have been if they sent Jamie back in pieces to Cersi and Tywin :smokin

I mean ..... that was the point of the war to get his sisters back. and for the respect.... but i think the war would have if not ended... subdued.

Killing Jamie wasn't even an option after having him captured.. if anything keeping him put them at more risk . capturing jamie in general was lose lose.

Tywin would've had a plan regardless. I think he got the freys and boltons purely after battle of blackwater bay. tyrells gave too much of an overwhelming majority once they went with lannisters.

After that there was no reason to march down south...

Which is why Catelyn at the time in Clash of Kings did the right thing. After stannis was defeated... the north was defeated (at the time) as well

The war was about more than getting sansa and arya back as soon as Rob declared himself King In The North. Also they didn't have Arya so giving up Sansa wouldn't even be an option cause no way Rob would stop for just Sansa and Tywin probably knew that.

yea which i understand all stems from Caitlyn yoking up Tyrion. but all decisons after tyrion was free which was still book 1, came from rob after that...

My book release optimism left a long time ago. I think the show will be done or almost done before we get a new book.

I want to believe yes sinply because theres still another book after.

I want to say no because a part of me thinks he does want to show to end now so he can give us something greater with more detail. Almost like the true story

I really feel like that's what he's doing. Waiting for the show to finish so he can top it.

I just need the book now.
