i would say no? the challenge was greenlit in 2022 and started taking applications then then filmimg began in january 2023 so the challenge was already announced and known before the reported remake was rumor that started in april 2023
i dont think theres been much report on it since then so it might still be in the bubble but the challenge is definitely a separate project

I just watched the game show and it was frustrating how everyone just let Ashley not take a turn. Mai is the only one with a backbone and called her out and then everyone turned on her.

It should be noted they filmed both seasons back to back, so no long wait before Season 3. Also, it means they put together a two-season arc that should wrap up nicely.

It's setting up a final run of another 7 episodes. It's a two-season arc.
Anyway, I did binge this. How was Gi-Hun duped by "001"? When he called him by name, I figured Gi-Hun would be a little more cautious. Also, the boat captain was another obvious double-crosser. His story doesn't add up at all and he has to be working for the company. He may even be the one smuggling organs. It was perfectly fine, but definitely looking forward to a resolution. At least it's been filmed and airs next summer/fall.

S2 ep 1-2 was weak and slow.. picked up after that.

sheesh this show is f'd up.
But feels realistic. Like, people would do many of these same choices when faced with the same options and prize to win. And they would find a way to rationalize each decision or just hope nobody saw they make it.
I wish we could've gotten the full season now. 7 eps is weak. Unless the other 7 come first couple weeks of january.
