Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie Eyes Early 2019 Production Start

Lucasfilm is reportedly readying the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie for an early 2019 production start. Rumors of an Obi-Wan solo film have been circulating for years now, ever since Lucasfilm announced its intention to develop spinoff Star Warsmovies. The project became all but official this past summer, when it was revealed that an Obi-Wan film was in early development. Stephen Daldry (of Billy Elliot and The Reader fame) was reported as being in talks to helm the project, but there hasn’t been a firm update on the situation since then.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff is expected to take place sometime between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith(Episode III) and A New Hope (Episode IV). Lucasfilm's working title for the film, Joshua Tree, similarly implies that the movie will explore Obi-Wan’s experiences on Tatooine while he kept watch over young Luke from afar. With neither a screenwriter nor director in place yet, the film is still in the early stage of development. However, it sounds like Lucasfilm intends for Obi-Wan to serve as the first spinoff movie to hit theaters after Episode IX in 2019.

Omega Underground is reporting that Lucasfilm expects to begin filming the Obi-Wan film at Pinewood Studios UK sometime in January of 2019. That would keep the project on-schedule to arrive by 2020, assuming there are no unexpected bumps in the road along the way. With Avatar 2 set to reach theaters in December 2020, the Obi-Wan movie will presumably be a May release like next year’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. That would put about six months between the film and Episode IX‘s release.

This is VERY bad. The fandom is about to destroy this pointless Sequel Trilogy. Talk about a cheap cash in, yikes. It was nice knowing you Star Wars :{

^ What's the theory you're referring to?

That Rey is Luke’s daughter. Apparently, that’s not the case and the whole mystery of TFA, and not giving Rey a surname along with plenty of other tongue in cheek hints were all pointless. She’s some random junkers daughter supposedly

:{

lamekilla lamekilla -- did you actually want that theory to be true?

Yes. For the simple fact that they practically beat you over the head with The Force Awakens and then played coy about whether or not it was true in the two years leading up to this film. Why the lightsaber? Why the forceback showing Luke Skywalker events that Rey wasn’t even around for? Why the hand me downs like the Millenium Falcon if she’s nobody? We could have been told that from the jump and actually have Rey been a character with her own character build up, her own lightsaber, her own ship. Instead we were used for our nostalgia and not reprimanded in the least. This is about to get bad

The events were shown to Rey because it was showing what the lightsaber had been through, and anyone force sensitive could've seen that, as well as heard Kenobi and Yoda
Falcon was sold to a junker on a junker planet, where Rey was, it wasn't even her first choice to escape the planet, :lol:@ Hand me down. That's Chewie ship, he just lettin her use it and it's an extra ship the rebellion didn't have to spare.

Luke was a "nobody" until empire happened. Think we should wait until the movie is viewed or better yet the ENTIRE trilogy wraps

That’s cute in theory but where was the saber when Rey was being dropped off on Jakku? What does any of that have to do with Luke? Were OT characters needed if Rey was going to be her own character regardless? How does the daughter of random junkers beat a Skywalker who was trained by THE LAST JEDI who is also a Skywalker? They ****** up big time creating a mystery box with nothing in it. You avoid all of this by setting your story 100 years in the future but instead you use nostalgia to gain credibility and then kill it off to establish a new order. Do you understand the **** storm that is about to happen from killing Luke Skywalker??

Is what you read 100% fact?

Is what you read 100% fact?

The internet is in a frenzy because it’s seeming like it’s true. As time has been progressing more leaks are coming out corroborating that. It’s not 100% set in stone but right now it’s looking about 90% the way it goes down. I’m legit crushed but holding out hope that the mouse is playing the biggest game of telephone with NDA’s in the history of cinema. There’s just NO way it can go down like this but it’s looking bad

I'm thankful I didn't put stock in any of the theories. I just didn't want one of them to be true cuz from a storytelling aspect its stupid as ****.

Was looking for the soundtrack so I could bump it, lol gotta wait till release day for that. So I just made alarms from the dialogue from the trailers.

Great, an Obi-Wan movie. In case you missed his story from the previous movies, cartoons and books. Hanging out solo in the desert makes such a great film idea. Maybe he'll have a volleyball companion.
What a wasted opportunity. Too much to have gotten a Fett/Bounty Hunter, Imperial or Old Republic movie. Come on.

Leaker claiming to have been trolling the whole time now. The whole internet is in disarray. This is crazy
