Just arrived home. The movie wasn't bad. A long one for sure. I admitted I enjoyed it because of scenes, not storyline

Leia's Force in space gave me chills. Weird to see her using strong Force. That's so not her, you know? RIP Carrie. A truly Princess

Saw Carrie and her daughter Billie in the same scene made me sad

Luke was the boss at the end. A true Jedi. Insane that he was the cause of Kylo Ren in the first place. Kinda disappointed with Disney's way with Luke in this entire movie somehow. It's like he gave a secret map but he didn't want to be found and wanted to die there

Nice to see Yoda once again

 @ the scene where Chewbecca trying to eat a Porg in the front of Porg. Again, disappointed with Disney about Chewbecca as well

I feel like storyline is awkward. It's like Disney wanted to have their own iconic characters which I don't blame 'em. A fresh start for new generations. Star Wars spin off movies should be good enough instead of making original SW iconic characters look worse

Finn is that dude. Finn and Rose... Their chemistry is nice tho. Better than I thought

DJ is a bastard scoundrel. Just wondered why Maz didn't see DJ's future with First Order. I hope Finn kills DJ

Poe is a heck of a pilot fighter. The best pilot fighter

Daisy Ridley. Rey. Nobody. A new version Jedi. Whether we call her now. She's lit :pimp:

Adam Driver's acting is fantastic. He impresses me the mostly. Maskless > a kid in a mask

Last thing. BB-8 is the MVP of this movie

 Yeah there's definitely some holes that need to be filled, I thought it was good not great definitely didn' hate it but I'm still an ot guy all the way and I can' help but wonder what this trilogy would've been if they took George's story and combine it with a great writer directed by Rian

Man if they could’ve had Rian direct a story by George Lucas and scripted by somebody like Alfonso Cuarón :wow:...

Lame hates the movie because Rey isn't Luke's. The most predictable thing ever. He would be crowning the hell out of it if they added one single line, "Luke is your father"

More of a causal fan. With that said, the film was ok.

The dialogue was a bit cringey at times. They're doing too much to create moments to get a reaction.

The film started off slow and I was getting worried because the pacing was off. The back and forth between the main story, and Rey and Luke, and then the segway into the Finn **** was too much. 3 plots like that is not the best way to deal with things with characters we aren't fully invested in yet.

That entire Finn, Rose subplot was garbage. That casino scene was bad. Which brings another problem with the fact that they keep reusing story elements from past films. I don't have the best recollection of all the events of the past films but it seems like there is always a need to travel to some distant but totally different area to get something from some goofy character. The plot comes to a halt, we get a few minutes on that world how it looks, the different species and how different it is and yada yada. There are things that are getting repetitive. I'm glad they gave Boyega more serious work in this film, but I don't care for his character at all. But back to my previous point of reusing elements. It's a nitpick and nothing too bad but they're pretty much doing the same thing they did with Boyega in the previous film with Rose. Made Rose a sidekick character only for her to be unconscious at the end. She's an unnecessary character who just doesn't need to be there, but will most likely stick around now.

How Snoke was killed was garbage. A character who was alluded to being built up as one of the next big villains is killed off in a weak manner.

I felt like Rey's arc was wrapped up very quick and was ultimately weak. They try to sell us a reason as to why she's special only to tell us she's not and she's just someone strong with the force. It felt like there was nothing they could do with that situation from the beginning tho. If they make her Luke's child or someone who folks theorize about and its not enough to satisfy, so they go with a twist instead. Because its unexpected. Problem is it fell flat. And now she ends up being less interesting than how she started.

Now I'm torn on this. I don't think it's necessary for every character to die in battle, but they gave Luke the fade into dust treatment? Really? A character in which 5 movies revolve around and this is his ending? . That and the ending with the force sensitive boy gave the film a bad ending

One of my favorite moments of the film was when Kylo was going crazy with the artillery, and Luke came out unscathed. Was a nice scene.

My favorite moments of the film for sure were the moments between Kylo and Rey. At first, I wasn't so sure about him being so temperamental, but he was great in this. It was cool seeing him not having a grip on everything and lashing out. The moments the two shared were easily the highlight for me.

But yeah, overall it was just whatever. Sloppy but serviceable. Mainly due to the last act. Pretty much saved the film for me. Perhaps my biggest problem is that it felt like nothing truly happened in the overall scheme of things

Just got back from a late screening. Not the biggest fan of Star Wars. I enjoy watching these movies one time and never care to see them again. Just a casual viewer. With that being said, I was thoroughly entertained and enjoyed the movie for what it’s worth. That Avengers trailer on the big screen though :pimp:

The problem some of y’all are having from what I’m reading is that you’re viewing this as the end of the trilogy when there’s so much more to explore and reveal.

The story of Rey’s lineage isn’t over I bet.

My gripes:

Snoke was way too powerful to go out that easy.

Luke is way too iconic to just fade off like that.

The whole sequence where Leia's ship gets hit is awkward. Like someone above said they built up Kylo doing the deed, he doesn't, then she all of a sudden unleashes her force powers like that? Super weird.

If Rey's lineage holds true that's a huge buzzkill. We need answers as to why she is so force sensitive.

The ending was Disney cheesy.

I'm obviously looking forward to seeing how the trilogy ends but the series lost a lot of momentum here.

This movie totally feels like how Matrix Reloaded felt in The Matrix Trilogy in that its a movie that literally feels like a bridge between Ep. VII and what will be eventually Ep. IX

When you watch the previous middle movie in the PT & OT, they feel like their own movies and seem "complete" in their own respects. Watching The Last Jedi doesn't have that same "feeling".

Really strong film. Rian’s cinematography completely blew me away. The story could have been a bit more cohesive as far as tying things together but I was satisfied.

7.4/8

Luke is way too iconic to just fade off like that.

Dude literally went God mode, showed us why he's the most powerful Jedi ever, saved the Resistance, toyed with Kylo and went out in one of the most beautiful ways possible with the sunsets.

Peace and purpose.

My 14 year old son & I loved the movie. It's flawed for sure but I think the important aspect to look at with this flick is its transitional vehicle for a 40 year old franchise towards a new direction & story wise what to expect heading forward.

Out with the old guard & in with the new. The Yin & Yang (dark & Light) are now Kylo & Ren as it should be.

The score & cinematography were bananas.

It’s amazing how comfortable Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher are in their roles. And that’s not to say they coasted in the film either because I thought they did a fantastic job.

Excited about what the future holds for Star Wars fans.

RIP Carrie Fisher.

Edit - My son said I had to give th movie a grade so using the NT scale, 7/8... Solid movie for me.

kylo sending everything he had to blast at like was a good scene until Luke brushed his shoulders off and everyone in the theatre laughs. Laughing at a battle scene completely takes you out of the moment and a shoulder brush is just corny af and too petty for luke

Imo better than 7 but a little too long. Action and twists and surprises makes this movie enjoyable to watch again. But

wth was that scene when Leia flew back to the ship after she was sucked into outer space. That was a weird scene. That was comic book superhero like imo that wasn’t needed.

Saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it. Some of my thoughts.
The space battle at the beginning was dope.
Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as expected were amazing.
The code breaker plot was cool. Gave Rose and Finn some purpose in an interesting and fun way and the way they brought the plot back around to those kids was awesome. The Rey + Kilo double team fight was well shot.... at least to me.
Like most of yall I wish there was a light saber battle. As far as stormtrooper shoot outs. I didn't need it. I thought the battles were enough. When the rebel ship hit light speed to destroy the empire fleet was amazing.
Two things that bothered me. Leia using the force was too much of a reach for her first time if that makes sense. I thought there was gonna be more with the code breaker character himself.

Not sure if I should see this tbh. Seems like old Star Wars fans despise it for the most part. New or casual fans like it. The Force is telling me to stay away but I might just go to see it because I haven't been to the movies in a while and it's Star Wars. I've seen 4 SW films in the theaters (I, III, IV, VI).

I was telling my boys, he might as well have dabbed while he was at it :rolleyes

One of the best scenes in the movie.
After Laura Dern’s character lightspeed kamikazed Snokes ship into 2 pieces, the absolute silence from the movie and the audience (in my theater) sent chills up and down my spine. That was real awesome.

I still enjoyed the movie
snoke is way to powerful to go out like that. The man connected to powerful force sensitive minds together and to end like that.
The throne room is awesome but still only movie in the saga not to have a lightsaber duel.
but right now.
1.ESB
2. Revenge
3.A new hope
4. Either this or the force awakens. Have to see a few more times
