If you don’t think the outrage wasn’t this bad, you clearly weren’t paying attention back then the same way you didn’t pay attention to this movie.

Nothing made up for jar jar, though. Or anAkins young or old's acting. Or amidalas. Even when homeboy became Vader at the end was kind of uh, whiney.

I shall try to explain based on what i've read

Apparently Lor San Tekka was an old friend of Luke's and they did lots of Jedi research together. The first Jedi Temple had been lost for many years but apparently Luke and Tekka discovered its location at some point. Lor San Tekka just ASSUMED that Luke had gone to that planet and apparently the only navigational chart to the planet itself existed in the archives of the empire, which Lor San Tekka ended up having.

It was literally a guess

At least I think - the movies don't really bother to expound

Also - grumpy PTSD Luke aside - his actual contribution to the Resistance effort in NO WAY meet the actual heavy price paid by the Resistance to obtain the map and actually find him lolol

But then you have the plot hole of R2 having the other piece of the map. No one could have put it there other than Luke. Luke is literally pointless in the film. He teaches Rey nothing. Her last interaction with him she was attacking him and he was bested (I’m rolling my eyes so hard I just sprained them) and then he doesn’t stop the monster he taught and essentially created in Kylo, he just distracts him. :smh: people trying to defend this movie is just ignorance at this point.

.....Have we attacked the thought of Snoke’s Star Destroyer being ripped in half and not only having survivors on the ship but having them in almost no rush to evacuate  :smh: it’s never ending.

Terrible acting aside, the majority of those movies were complete wastes of time to me. 9 year old Anakin, pod racing, Jar Jar, Anakin and Padme romance scenes, 99% of the Trade Federation and fake politics scenes, etc. are all cringeworthy and added nothing memorable to the story

I thought Rogue One and TFA were enjoyable on the surface but they're nothing new. One is a A New Hope remake with a completely unbelievable lightsaber duel at the end, while the other is just a fleshing out of an event we already know happened.

I'm not even a fan of Star Wars as a whole, but I do like the concept of it, so I usually check out the new movies that drop every few years.

I myself am strongly against the first 2 prequels. Sith was good enough, but I wanted it to be more the middle movie.

I’m curious what you would’ve done different for the prequels? We knew from Star Wars ANH that there was the clone wars. Somehow George Lucas had to set up that timeline. We knew it would need to show Obi Wan and Anakin and setup the birth of Luke and Leia. We knew Palpaltine had to set himself up as the emperor and he had to tell the story how the empire came about.

I mean when you really sit back and think about it how else would George have explained what happened?

I watched a behind the scenes vid on The Phantom Menace and it was better than the movie.

Crazy how all that stuff comes together. Seein them drive around in the back of a Toyota practicing Jar Jar movements and filming was cool. Imagine drivin past them and seein that.

George Lucas admits he 'may have gone too far' with 'Star Wars: The Phantom Menace' http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/12/29/george-lucas-admits-may-have-gone-too-far-with-star-wars-phantom-menace.html

He didn't need to start with an 8 year old slave born from the Force.

Just start the story with Attack of The Clones but cut out all the nonsense love and non-Palpatine scenes.

I don't have a problem with these three plot points. They should've been the outline for all three movies instead of the junk Trade Federation and love scenes

-Anakin starts his descent into the dark side when he kills the Sand People when he learns about his mother
-He gets seduced by Palpatine when he starts having premonitions about Padme's death
-He feels disrespected by the Jedi since they keep using him as an errand boy, vs Palpatine encouraging him to use his powers
-Palpatine is secretly building a storm trooper army and a Death Star

Basically just ROTS with a few things from the previous movies would've been fine

Why not? If the story of Darth Vader was going to be tragic, you needed to convey a sense of innocence in the viewer. Seeing Darth Vader as a little kid scared to leave his mother’s side is endearing especially when you think of him becoming a monster as an adult.

You seem to have no problem with Young Kylo being portrayed as an innocent kid that was scared.

You don't need to start at 8.

Kylo isn't 8, you can still feel for him.

Episode 1 sets up the conflict as to how Palpatine begins to pull the strings of his rise to power. You had to have that episode otherwise you wouldn’t have any backstory.

A 2 hour movie that had to have Palpatine rise to power, plus clones/stormtroopers being made, plus set up who the clones were supposed to fight, plus introduce Obi Wan, and Anakin, and Luke and Leias mother would’ve been way too much for one 2 hour movie.

Kylo isn’t nearly the imposing figure Vader was. In 1999 we wanted to know EVERYTHING about Vader’s life pre-suit and this is after years of speculating what he even looked like without it. Kylo is no where near interesting nor imposing enough to warrant the type of exposé his grandfather has. I like that the greatest villain in movie history can be called little Annie.

They HAD to start 10 full years before the sequel? Nah man.

They coulda done all that while Anakin was 15-18 and already a Padawan learning under Obi-Wan.

Kylo is the worst villain in the entire series. I'm supposed to feel bad for some emo freak who's mad at his parents? Literally the only :pimp: scene he had was him freezing the blaster fire in the first 10 mins of TFA.

I felt like they truly dropped the ball with Kylo as a character. I truly don’t know what his motivation is other than being bad which is the truest motivation of a real “bad guy” but he comes from a good family. If you set up Rey as his familial rival and heir to the midichlorian throne THAN you have something. But nope, let’s do Reylo make Adam Driver have hunky shirt off scenes and make women invest in a Star Wars will they won’t they soap opera forreal :smh:

Kylo Ren as a character is inferior to Anakin. Adam Driver's amazing performances are the saving grace.

I will not argue with anyone who ****s on the prequels, but you cannot deny that Anakin is fleshed out, his motivations are laid bare, and we see the character discussed in the OT as a legendary hero of justice during the Republic.

In the OT the viewer is told of the good that once defined and now lies dormant in Anakin Skywalker. The prequels (and the legendary cartoon miniseries) make good on this characterization by providing us moments that reinforce the notion that Anakin was once an inherently good person.

Kylo Ren is given nothing of the sort.

We are two movies into the trilogy and we are still unclear as to why he is evil, and why the story posits that there is "good" in him and he is "redeemable". He is also sold as "conflicted" and this is supposed to make him compelling, but he has yet to live up to this characterization. His increasingly atrocious actions do not betray a man concerned with doing the right thing. His hesitation to kill Leia is not sufficient as the choice would have been taken from him regardless.

i know it was discussed at length in here before but would have been nice to have episode 3 bridge more of the gap between ROTS and ANH (or R1) where we see how the Jedi were all wiped out

The thing about Kylo is that the series sends me mixed messages about him?

But aside his Emo steez, like what is appealing to him as a villian.

He is supposed to be sooo powerful, they tell me this repeatedly, yet someone that never touched a lightsaber gave him that work (him being hurt is not a valid reason for him to not be able to handle Rey) and he almost gets murked by Snoke's guards.

Then they have him kill the two other most powerful people in the universe. He was able to pull it off because one had his guard down and the other one tricked him.

He is not that cunning, he is not ruthless, he is not that reckless. Whenever the series signals he is one of those things, they do something that contradicts it.

He just seems a lil too underpowered and a lil too incompetent.

Dude is the Vegeta of the Star Wars universe.

We all know Rey finna pull up wit da stick and let it hit on him in the next movie. So that joint better be more lit that Anakin and Obi in the presentation department.

not sure if that was for me, but if so, i'll hunt for it. but would have been cool to have a full on movie for it

Naw, people been complaining about content that's outside the films. Now I saw someone mentioning it. 8o
