Every day :{ When TFA came out people complained that it was just a rehash and nothing changed to make it unique. TLJ comes out and people complain it's too different and too much changed.

Neither are perfect or live up to the original 2 films, but its intellectually insulting to say the prequels, any of them, are better or even in the same league as the sequel trilogy.

Remember, people have short memory spans these days. Prisoners of the moment too with the "group hate". Stop bruh.

TLJ officially passes 500 million, passes Beauty and the Beast to be largest film in 2017 and will surpass Rogue One some time tomorrow.

After 17-18 days.

Can it get to 650, with maybe 1.75 billion WW? May be lofty on my part, but could make a run at those numbers.

This is another common generalized category for people who voice criticism of The Last Jedi.

It also perpetuates the illusion that The Last Jedi is somehow not ridiculously derivative, when, in actuality, it was.

Newsflash: people can voice criticism for different things for different reasons.

People can also enjoy different things for different reasons as well, I too remember what noskey said as happening actually happening. A generalization would be saying everyone, or Noone. People were saying these things. Not all, but some.

There’s a happy medium between the two where the ST can honor what came before it and still be something fresh. TFA and TLJ are essentially the two extremes

Episode III is better than TFA and TLJ

This thread haha. Hoping we get some Solo footage soon so we can talk about something else.

Just got back from my 3rd showing, gonna check it one more time in IMAX and then I'm done (5x is always my limit). The film definitely grew on me the 2nd and 3rd viewings. I think because it was so different, so much was just unexpected and I didn't know how to feel after the first viewing. Only things that irk me now are the frozen Leia aka Carrie Poppins along with some smaller things like the disrespect to Ackbar and the subtle hints that Luke wasn't really there (with his just for men beard, taking the laser barrage and w/OG lightsaber that had just been destroyed) I think it would have been badass for him to use his Green saber or hell even Vader's kyber crystal that was hanging in his hut; oh and the lack of a real duel obviously. Really hoping IX is amazing, just don't know what they're gonna do with Leia smh.

I know Hollywood don't wanna typecast no more, but Rose would've been a more believable hacker than Fiddy (Escape Plan), Luda or Rhi Rhi (upcoming Ocean's Eight).

Actually, one would think they are typecasting hip hop stars as hackers now!
Cuz she's Asian? :lol

It's crazy to think of it in that context, how this will be remembered by the next generation.
I'm not really around enough 8-16 yr olds to get a read.

I can see how the rehash captured their minds and imagination but TLJ? For mostly the laughs? The PT gripped youngins with pod races and the best lightsaber fights. If you compare AotC to TLJ that threw a lot of entertaining distractions with action but TLJ was kinda weird in that it relied on humor and the more visually impressive stuff.

But I dunno, maybe they loved Finn's subplot adventure and BB8.

They've already greenlit another trilogy just for Rian Johnson to **** up all by himself
I don't want to completely write him off as a storyteller cuz directing is basically that + visuals/editing and getting the best out of your actors. I liked the stories of Brick and Looper.

He claims to love SW so I can only hope with new characters he can create and a story he can write the beginning, middle, and end will be way better than the uneven TLJ.

That's really not what ppl are complaining about (you have certain ppl going to great lengths to compare Snoke's death to Sidious', Phasma's death to Fett's, even making parallels to the prequels as precedence for anything happening in the sequel trilogy just to say its not different).

Suffice it to say, just because something is the opposite of what you didn't like doesn't make it something that is good or something that you willautomatically like.

You might not like your pie too sweet. That doesn't mean you want it made with a vat of salt.
