IDK man, this is kinda what I wanted from the current trilogy

I hear that, but that's what the EU was. Makes me believe Disney wanted to go away from it. Least, that's how I view it.

These past 25 years I've done nothing but read about the greatness of Luke, Han and Leia, the rebuilt Jedi order, the remnants of the Empire.

Disney rendered all of it non-canon. Then created a completely different tale. I truly believe that is why I'm not as bothered about this Luke as others. I've already lived thru the "other" Luke.

Funny thing is, no one said that.
That's a lie
And you were backing those with extreme ridiculous criticisms
Who? And what does "backing" even mean in this context? Agreeing with a criticism?

Which extreme ridiculous criticism did I back?

Also if somebody expressed an extreme ridiculous criticism and then also made perfectly sound critcisms why do you have a problem with me agreeing with a perfectly sound critcism? Seriously hop off my ****.

This just happened a couple pages ago so none of your revisionist history is going to work here.

You simply were being a fussy crybaby when you saw I also had criticisms for the movie despite liking it. But I liked it, but you liked it.
now actin like a victim for bein called on it. *Shrugs*
You're the only victim here or poster acting like one.

But I know, I know, groupthink this, groupthink that and "But you said you liked the movie"

**** outta here.

You weren't agreeing with valid anything, just following along. As you tend to do.

It's all good tho, you liked the prequels, I got it. ;)

You know we are 8 episodes in and people are saying something needed to change. No, no it doesn't need to change. Its been doing this for 8 movies so that means it works. Why change it up since its already working? hehe
I mean George buckled to fan backlash. The prequels raked in paper and broke records.

Its just shortly after almost as many decided it was trash. He really felt a way about it. Dipped on directing for the masses and now only makes movies "for his friends".

Funny enough had he stuck with the franchise we most likely would've got the start of a sequel trilogy in 2012 instead of a sale and it would've been loosely based on some EU stuff. Plus I think this time around he gets his friends to direct the movies this time.

Ironically though, that would've probably ended in 2016 and Fox is selling its movie studios to Disney so they would be got Star Wars a way. Downside being we probably nevrr get a Rogue One.

Thread made it to 1k!

GL was ready to retire. He's bitter now that Disney basically ignored the plans he had laid out, but that's what happens when you sell a company- you give up control over how it is run. If he wanted to keep control over it, he shouldn't have sold.

I respect him for being the brilliant creator of the SW universe, but I'm glad he passed it on so that others could pick up the torch and keep it going. It's always rocky getting something significant going again, but whether you liked TFA/TLJ or Rogue One, there are definitely good things happening at Lucasfilm again, IMO

Still wanna know more about Snoke and his connection to Darth Vader / Sidious. Maybe he gets runtime in some of the one-off films if they don't go into him much in 9?? Still can't believe they killed homie off.

Also, there is a sliver of hesitation that Disney mucks up the Obi-Wan solo film by NOT getting Ewan to reprise the role :lol

hol up??

did this dude just say you have to pretend that TFA is a reboot to appreciate TLJ?

Still thinking about that awesome Poe x BB8 attack sequence in TLJ. One man/droid army, that guy can fly.

Back in the day on the OG Star Wars: TIE Fighter pc game, you could do the same thing. Found self flying around after failing a mission, was bored and decided to have some fun. Shot out all guns on the Star Destroyer, then the two bubble shield generators on top of Bridge, and then committed High Treason by blasting the ship to oblivion.
Took a minute, but doable.

TLJ is by no means a bad movie but the more I think about it the more problems I have with it,

they completely deaded or ignored every major question/cliffhanger I was excited about in TFA

IDK man, this is kinda what I wanted from the current trilogy

Exactly.. it doesn't make sense to play up the OG trilogy members in the 1st movie of a new trilogy and then do what was done here

They could have very easily taken cues from the lord of the rings trilogy, which had new players participating in a very old game.. you had significant past role players involved, but they were clearly ancillary to the story being told..

or could even look at another recent Harrison ford movie that dealt with incorporating the original, blade runner 2049

I have zero problems with deviating from 'the formula'.. however, my problem is with structure.. my problem is with this movie following TFA and this movie being the middle movie of a trilogy.. we're 2 movies in with only 1 left to go of this story and I don't see how a satisfactory ending will be delivered

I mean, just my opinion, obviously.. but if they were going to go this route, make the kylo/Luke conflict the primary issue of the 1st film (and that triggering him going after his whole family).. focus on that, with Rey being a side character.. so we get a better version of the fall to the dark side story we never got in the prequels, with Rey to be built up of the course of the trilogy

Allegedly Greg Grunberg said that JJ regretted not being the one to direct TLJ after he read Rian's script

Not sure if this means he hated it or loved it so much he was jealous and wanted to make it himself

The lightspeed suicide run was an amazing scene, that was tops for me. And porgs, I got a soft spot for animals.
