STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

After a year on Tonal I have visible abs again. It took years of weight training and doing the Insanity workout series’s pre COVID for my abs to ok like this.

It’s constant excruciating pain though. Not even the old p90x was this much hurt.

so was it the year of tonal or the prior years of weight training? & why is it constant excruciating pain??

some have to grind & work hard but it really comes down to genetics & leanness…sprinkle in how much one has developed their core & i think its possible to have visible abs at higher body fat percentages; i’ve always been able to at least make my abs visible even when carrying extra weight & according the bmi scale i’d be in that obese/overweight category so statistically not supposed to have no sorts of visible abs

Ab muscle pain is constant. Any routine that involves the abs as a secondary hit area is deeply felt in the abs.

It could vary(the play on genetics). Alot of core strength training has led my definition. The difference now is even after eating my abs are still very visible.

Next goal is for the front ab view to be well defined

i get feeling some burn in the abdominals but excruciating pain tho?

i can remember one time, i was going ham on of those adjustable weighted ab crunch machines at the gym having never really used it seriously…it was so easy with the lighter weights but too cumbersome/uncomfortable with heavier weights, so i set the range of motion to as large as it would allow but with light weight 🤦🏿‍♂️😵‍💫😮‍💨 after doing a few sets i then proceeded to get the most debilitating abdominal cramp, i had to unfold & roll myself out of the machine 🤣🤣🤣😵‍💫 fortunately the gym was type empty so i didn’t have to endure the embarrassment of being seen writhing on the gym floor in what was excruciatingly painful cramp because i was doing too much 😂

everyone is different but i wonder if you are experiencing a level of pain that goes beyond just discomfort that you might just be doing unnecessary stuff because pain definitely isn’t necessary to get the abs to show. it is possible to not do any direct training for abs and still have a well defined midsection, a lot of athletes have good definition in the midsection because of how dynamically they control their core due to their various movements in their sport(s)

the abdominals are not all that unique as a muscle…but most people approach training them as if they are by just doing isometric holds and/or doing crazy reps in a limited/short range of motion rather than progressing the load/work done using the abs with a full range of motion

excruciating sounds like you might need to se a doctor. When I used to do DB presses, I got to the point where my rotator cuffs, esp the left said **** this. I just started back doing that movement but I am scared to go over like 55 where I can easily do over twice that but I might reinjure, plus I used to like having them even with my bent over db row so I could just do a set on each side of the db row, then turn over and db press, and not have 2 sets of weights. Could be a form issue as well, but if anything causes excruciating pain and not just mild discomfort as in pushing past your comfort zone to promote growth, you should probably swap it out. Plenty of movements you can do to target the same musculature without harming yourself.

More bumper plate deals from Wal Mart, 100lbs for $47 for black or $50 if you get multicolored. Can get a 7ft bar for like $60 or a trap bar and set up a nice home gym for the lowski

what makes a person athletic? although i know there is no perfect way to measure it, but how would you compare and make a decision who's more athletic btw 2+ people

Do they have FLUID HIPS?

you can usually tell if someone is athletic or not based on how they run right off the bat.

And then there are levels to athleticism.

If you have to ask if someone is athletic, they probably AREN'T.
