Stop & Frisk New York Vol. Why I will always pick CA over NY

Yeah because the only people who get stopped and frisked are up to no good, they don't single anybody out.
The good outweighs the bad, I'd rather someone be wrongfully stopped and frisked than NO ONE and a train is blown up while I'm in it. They also trying implement the method of apprehension without identifying race, gender, age or weight. I think people are leaving that fact out.

That's cool, I rather not be wrongfully frisked though.

A lot of cats left the guns at home because of this. Going to be interesting to see what happens as a result. It had its good whether people liked the policy or not.

Are you stupid?

THIS + REPPED

People demonize the police and the actions of a select few. Criminals come in all shapes and colors and cops are able to act quick to suspicion with stop and frisk.

Again bottom line is, the cops can check me, I have no warrants, I don't do drugs and I don't carry a firearm or chemical explosives. No lollipops and kiddie porn in my satchel neither. I never been stopped and frisked and if I was I'd respect the cops doing their jobs.

2013 might be the end for this far left liberalism ...and far right conservatism too for that matter.

I did a paper on the "stop and frisk" policy a few years back. There was a stat from an nytimes article that blew my mind. On a 8 block radius in Brownsville, police stopped over 14000 people a year. Come on! 8 blocks, 14k stops??? That's beyond excessive especially when most of the searches dont turn up anything.

That's brownsville tho. Nothing good ever happens in that neighborhood.

How would you feel is you were one of these people? Or that kid? He seemed like a good kid, he was cooperating and everything and they treated him like garbage. Here in CA I've had my fair share of run ins and the only ******** I've ever encountered were the older veterans. Or the new cops who don't know how to relax.

When I had my Batman suit on downtown I was almost arrested for carrying a toy prop. I was taking picture with little kids (late to my movie), and the cop called me stupid.

It's so stupid. Cops don't know how to treat people right.

Crime definitely gonna creep up...da fact NY been so

Safe for being such a HUGE city was amazing to me.

Da wild cowboys era wasnt that far away in da

Heights either...

if you don't have any stats backing up your post you should not be in this thread
You from NY?

That Brownsville article was pretty meaningless imo. That's arguably one of the worst neighborhoods in NYC. Something always pops off there. No surprise that there were as many stops as there were. The crime stats are through the roof there.

Things are definitely going to get worse. The spike in crime will be the legacy of whoever is elected the next mayor.

post the stats backing up your posts

what was the crime stats before the illegal searches?

guess this thread about to go the derail thread direction

The judge didn't outright ban the stop and frisk policy but she ruled that the NYPD need to narrowly tailor their program to comply with the constitution. The NYPD program was clearly unconstitutional. I am pro stop and frisk when it is done within the confines of the Constitution but the program in New York didn't. I could understand the NYPD's argument if the judge struck down the program, but all she said was don't violate the Constitution when choosing who you stop and frisk

Come on man, you don't even believe that.

There are reports that one of the amendments is that NYPD officers will have camera's that record their patrol. The truth of the matter is this is a solution that can only hold up for so long, officers might find ways around it (i.e. supervisors might lie about faulty gagets when an incident comes about, their precinct weren't issued any, etc)

The problem lies in the lack on independent oversight. If that was implemented, then there is someone who can manage the ethical policies.

Man, stop all the crying that's what kills me, cats live in the hood all their life, know the way the game goes but don't anything to change it. Every kid in Harlem and SoHo running around looking like ASAP Ferg, pants down to his ankles, yelling loud, Beats headphones on rappin' obscene lyrics in front of kids. Hanging out in PACKS "nah son, ayo, yo, word up b blah blah BLAH BLAH". If you want to be stupid there's rights that other's will have over your intelligence.

I can take one look at that kid and can tell he's telling 60% truth. Listen to how he talked during his victimized dramatic segment, then listen to him on the audio, I'm not even gonna lie I laughed when he got hit

. He gave them opportunity to harass him.

True story, I was on my way home, in full dress shirt and slacks and the turnstyle was broken. The MetroCard machine was also broken, the train was coming. Me this old white lady, and about 6 other people went through the gate. The cop tried to harass me ONLY. I told him NO, you're not gonna press up on me and you seen all those people go through too. All 6 people didn't get on the train and the old white lady said if you take him you're taking me because he opened the gate for me. I secretly took the cop's badge number.

True story 2, I was in full work out gear with my Nike book bag that had nothing in it but my book I was reading and some post-its. I have an addiction to post-its. I'm getting off the train and the stop and frisk table is by the door. I look dead at the cops and attempted to take the bag off. They gestured "no" and smirked and I kept it moving.

Dudes gotta stop fighting for the right to be harassed, and lead by example, stop doing stupid things and stop dressing stupid and MAYBE you won't be a victim of a stupid cop's suspicion. If I was dressed like ASAP I highly doubt that lady would've have helped me that day.
