Too early to call the rookie class overrated. But they certainly haven't met the early expectations.

Yes even in December. People went on pace saying this would be the best rookie class ever after 03' and 96'.
Nobody is showing any signs of that. But we'll wait I guess. Most of these dudes don't even start or get any minutes.

The expectations of the Rookie class by the general public were insane to begin with. In the last ten years, how many rookies have come in and taken the league over by storm year one? Lillard? Thats basically it. 2003 is not the norm it is the exception, rookie classes are evaluated five years out, not two months.

I blame Julius Randle for this class having such high expectations. If it wasn't for his injury, his seasonal averages would have been high enough to shut everyone up.

1. It's not like qb rating at all, it adjust for league scoring environment. the the era is factored in.
2. You can't really factor in clutch in any stat, it's too tniy of a sample size to be meaning ful in any statistical sense.
3. There are version of PER that estimate those missing numbers, but thats misses the point PER was never meant to be a down to the decimal point this guy is better than that guy it's suppposed to give you baselines of performance.
24 per guys isn't necesarily better than a 22 per guy, but a 24 guy is almost certainly better 18 per guy. for example.

It turns out having young talented rookies with upside, is better than mid level nba players who eek out 43 wins a playoff berth.

Exactly. This rookie class is fine. Most of the top picks are showing enough flashes to indicate they'll be good in the future. But the class was hyped up like it was supposed to be the next 2003 or 1996. That's the fault of the media, bloggers, etc. Not the players.
