AI played the point his rookie yr and maybe a little beyond that and when he went to Denver, all other times, he played the 2.

I don't really count his Denver days anyway.

It's like counting Jordan's Wizards days

Nah man no way, AI was balling out of control when he was in Denver.

people love to focus on advanced stats when it comes to chris paul but the seem to forget what the point of getting stats as a basketball player is - to win basketball games

****, just off the top of my head: Magic, Stockton, Payton, Isiah, Oscar, Nash, Kidd > CP3

And there are guys still playing that I'd take before CP3, too.

:lol @ Stockton/Zeke/Kidd/Nash.

2 of those dudes can't eem defend so they're out.

:lol :lol :lol @ using PER and other dumbass advanced stats to try and prove that CP0 is somehow a 'better player.'

Chris Paul can't even win so he's out.

Some of y'all need to stop.

Chris Paul is the Drew Brees of point guards (minus, of course, a championship and MVP). Good enough to be in the top 5 current crop, but not enough to crack top 5 all time. Inflated stats.

More like the Peyton Manning of the NBA; great regular season offenses but always ***** the bed when it counts. Won't ever be considered top 5 at his position.

People seem to think that period lasted much longer than it did.

He played off the ball during Larry Brown's tenure. As soon as he left he went back to being a 1. Then primarily played the point in Denver and Detroit.

He got his MVP playing off the ball...but he spent more time on the ball than off it in his career.

Came in here to say this.

:lol @ Stockton/Zeke/Kidd/Nash.

Zeke is the only real arguement but that's also not close when you look at the numbers objectively.

Chris Paul has had a lower TO% and higher assist% every year.

Zeke career TS% is 51% and he's shot under 50% 3 times

Paul's is 57% and he's never shot under 53%

Zeke best PER was 22.

Paul's is 30, his worst is 22.

Chris Paul also blows Kidd's numbers out the water too and he also couldn't even shoot till he was like 35.

So no.

But let me guess, playoff success and championships right?

Even though Kidd played on more talented squads in a weaker conference and Zeke played with multiple HOF'ers with a HOF coach. :lol

Never mind individual skill/greatness doesn't = championships.

Yall need to stop man.

This will be ignored though, because of course it doesn't fit into the CP0 ******** :lol

its debatable whether or not ai should be considered a pg

if he isnt then, difference in opinion. that doest mean he didnt make any sense

if you dont mind having ai as a pg then give your reasons to which you think chris paul is better

Why would I again when dude didn't have CP3 in his top 5 of current players?

You serious too?

the only mentality pgs should all have is the willingness to do whatever it takes to win a basketball game

there is no correct way to play point guard

so what's the basis? every player should have that mentality, not just in basketball but in any sport. There are position labels for a reason right? Albeit the league is transitioning to a more position-less style. You're right when you say there is no correct way to play the position, but there are basic responsibilities and priorities for each position.

What? Why not? AI was still elite as **** in Denver :lol 26 4 and 7+ on like 46% from the field. That **** better count :lol

CP3 fan boy alert! This is the type of fan I was talking about earlier. CP3 is top 5 no debate. As if the 5 I named clearly haven't been as good as Paul this season.

Paul has 30 more Win Shares than Thomas in his whole career already though.

He's won more games by himself than any other PG not named Oscar Roberston.

those denver squads with AI were :Nthat. I mean, I try not to think of him in a piston or grizz jersey, but he was still ballin in Denver

because its not ridiculous to think chris paul isnt a top 5 current player in the nba :lol

I'm done with you dudes y'all are silly, y'all really let your dislike for a player distract actually how good of a basketball player they are.
