nothing is impossible, we cut the fat from non-performing staff before November, and we're NOT a big 4.
Think this way, if Big 4 are losing companies because those companies are going bye-bye, where does the work go?

Even in my school system there are major budget cuts and time cuts. The position I have used to be full time, but they let the girl go that was there before mecause she needed full, and when I was hired it became a 20hr position.

Speaking of school, chances are that education loans will probably dry up b'c institutions will no longer be able to package the debt and sell it off topatsies . . I mean investors. Washington will probably have to step in and start doling out money.
Additionally, as ed. loan defaults will continue to skyrocket, the gov't will step in again and either buy the outstanding debt, or renegotiate it so thatthe monthly payments will be a fraction of the persons income just like they did with mortgage debt held by Fannie and Freddie.

i work for verizon now, and i've been told that once they finish aquiring Alltel, Verizon is laying off 1200 corporate employees.

That said, even government jobs aren't totally safe. Fortunately, my work directly affects public safety = our jobs are the last to go(and usually nevergo).
I don't love my job by any stretch of the imagination, but at times like this, I'm thankful I have one--and one that won't be phased out.
