The Combat Jack Show Thread

I just want to know when are we actually going to discuss the dems and black people.

It never seems time. Every four years that can is kicked down the street.

When Obama was in office and had both the house and senate for his first two years, it was he still doesn't have enough votes to push his agenda. He just got in office. Wait until his second term. Notice how Republicans don't have this problem. They don't give a damn about the other side and how popular it is and have no problem in having Pence vote to give them the numbers.

And every election it's not about what the democrats can do for us, it's because they aren't Republicans.

That's the discussion we need to have 🤷‍♂️

We aren't getting it in 2020, so are we getting it in 2024, 2028......2040?

Instead we have discussions about Ice Cube and Kanye.

Well this is in the hip hop/podcast thread on a sneaker forum lol. So I can see why we’re talking about Ice Cube & Kanye in here. But the discussions have been had. And black people have rightful cynicism and distrust to any government institution in this country.

We gotta be real about the political framing in this country in 2009 (especially at that time). And how yes, the Democratic Party played it safe and broad, and got ho’d by republicans (who like you said...don’t give a damn about rules, regulations, popularity etc) to the country’s detriment. I think Obama’s biggest failing was how naive he was to the country’s true nature. Then came the tea party wave....and all the other **** that has led us to this point. But you are correct. What’s on the table for 2020, and where the parties have been pushed to are a lot farther on the spectrum than they were a decade ago. The Democratic Party has been pushed from moderate/centrist (as it was in Obama’s term) to more of a progressive side. While the GOP has fully embraced the other end as a white fascist party, with an apartheid state in mind. And the 2018 mid terms were indicative of that. Blacks people for sure have to continue to hold the Dems accountable and demand more. I never will disagree with that. There is a ton of work to be done.

The fact of the matter is there is a split in Black America & the chances of us "coming together" doesn't realistically seem possible when only particular viewpoints from black people are championed by media & backed by corporate donations. anything or anyone that questions the effectiveness of the current liberal leadership is quickly demonized, despite having legitimate concerns.

So you want black people to stop looking up to celebrities......... but are advocating for a actual leader of an "activist" group to turn her attention away from that & do television, so black people could find representation in fictional characters??

tenor.gif
ADOS & Trumpers are pretty much the same thing. You disregard media activism is just dumb like “When They See Us” or that R Kelly doc didn’t immediately. Ava Duvernay took her activism & put it on a god damn for millions to see & got paid for too. You’ve been finding representation through fictional characters your whole damn life, so don’t give me that ****.

1) how exactly is a group of people seeking to get reparations for black people equivalent to being a Trump supporter
2) I didn't disregard activism in media, there's a lane for it & it's helpful in spreading awareness. When they see us was cool & all, but since that film we've seen the country go up in smoke due to police brutality....... clearly awareness isn't enough & it's asinine that at a time like this an actual "activist" & "leader" is turning her attention to film
3) Ummmmmmm no i haven't needed to find representation in fictional black characters.... because i'm around black people all the time in real life, it's cool that people are fighting for a more diverse view on black people in media. With that said a black panther film or a black james bond does absolutely nothing for me in terms of my experience as a black man in America

1. They're the online version of the Black Israelites that be standing on 125th by the Metro.

2. So you're against the protest?

3. It does, perception is a *****. I got falsely accused of flooding a bathroom in 2nd grade & although I never got directly in trouble for it the accusations stuck to me.

I think people are arguing the bigger picture, instead of focusing on whether Cube got "played" or not. the Trump campaign trying to skew Cube's meeting as him working for them is going to have what impact on America?? I think Cube has made it quite clear that he didn't endorse Trump at all, i believe his tweet this morning emphasized that  .

People love to talk about how big of an impact celebrity has & being "careful with your platform" but they scale the power of that influence only when it fits their narrative.

Cube BEEN speaking on black empowerment this entire time, he couldn't be much clearer on where he stands & he couldn't be much more vocal about it. The second he demands answers from liberals suddenly the narrative is he's using his platform dangerously & he shouldn't be involving himself in politics.

Black People: Cube is a fool being used for the GOP agenda
Meanwhile the liberals to black people:

Add that to battle rap election commercials, Stripper election commercials, and the VP sitting down with basketball players....... we sure it's just Ice Cube being used?

I don't think he was being used. I don't think that's the right term.

and probably was upset at that tweet that announced his meeting. They were going to use it for a photo op, just like Steve Harvey or Jim Brown.

Ice Cube's just too prideful to admit he was wrong, so he's doubling down. If you see both as being opposite sides of the same coin, he's sort of annoyed he had to reach out to both. One gave him the same lip service that he sees black people have been given for decades. We'll look at it later. One met.

Ice Cube's politics aren't sophisticated. He sees it as lip service and they nothing for us.

Now do you separate that meeting from that tweet? Maybe Ice Cube does.

Maybe Ice Cube is trying to use leverage to provoke the democrats to act.

The tweet was meant to provoke discourse. And just on queue, Ice Cube becomes a koon and that's all people talk about for a couple of days. Not real issues. Not anything in Ice Cube's plan. Not anything the Democrats should be doing.

We have to do better than fall for partial clips and headlines with agendas.
Perhaps used isn’t the word Like you said. But something akin to a photo opp is the right wording. Repiblocans get to say hey look we have a black guy willing to sit with us. They always like to prop up a high profile black voice when they get one

But that crowd that isn’t interested or well versed in politics but likes to comment about “but what about the democrats” are using him as sort of a mascot to highlight that point

EVERYTHING said here is pure facts & yet we can never get an answer, ****** been telling us i got yo on the next check my entire Adult life.

And yet people are expected to just keep supporting in blind faith.... in the case that the Democrats do win this election i would love for someone to explain to me what incentive is there for Biden/Harris to do anything other then the bare minimum for BLACK PEOPLE.

Gotta keep the people willing to listen on task. Dudes ask why but after voting never write a letter, attend a town hall, create/donate to a pac or lobby, don't show up to their offices etc. Gotta use politics for the tool that it is correctly.

While i agree with this to an extent a major reason that this isn't done on a large scale comes down to

1) Education (politics aren't properly explained in public schools for a reason)
2) Finances
3) reasonable distrust in a system that we see clear as ever is based on finances & political relationships only

Yeah but at some point we gotta pay attention to the game and how it's played. At this point, folks who want white supremacy don't seem to be the majority of the country, yet they still get their way more often than not. They pressure the **** outta their right wing politicians, time to do the same. Yelling at the sky and staying away ain't getting **** accomplished. I know the folks who are into politics and been working get things done slowly, but that's because they need the help.

1) I 100% agree that people who want white supremacy are probably in the minority, however i don't know if the same can be said about the percentage of people who want uphold systems & traditions that are inseparable from white supremacy

2) That pressure for politicians only gets brought to them in two ways, threats of taking away financial backing & threats of taking away votes. And this is where my frustration is rooted at, because while it has improved over the years there's still an overwhelmingly large part of the black population that has an allegiance to democrats.

The Democrats lean in heavy on that every election, & because they feel so comfortable knowing they have the black vote w/o having to account for all their false promises. They never feel the need to go hard in passing legislation for black people.

To take this off of politics the democrats basically treat black Voters like a dude treats a thot at 2AM. All the other demos get the big dinners, Vacays & affection but we get a 5th of Henny & middle of the night text

We can't hold politicians accountable to make real change because they know we refuse to exercise our leverage.

Before we get off this topic, do ya think Diddy is going in the right direction with a black party? And a black party regardless of Democrat or Republican.

Well now's a perfect time to press them if they are put back in power. More folks are seeing that it's not enough and willing to mobilize.

I truly & honestly hope so, nothing from the running administration has given me any sign that their genuine but I hope i'm wrong.

Wont solve much imo. Politicians can and will be bought. It’ll eventually merge into the same political system we have now

Also. Diddy a snake.

Didn't they come after him the other day also?

He's right, but the internet is going to internet and attack the messenger instead of listening to the message.

I'ma come clean i'm just coming off a Death Row deep dive & puffy's involvement in it, so to say it was bad timing to see him talking about a political party is an understatement to say the least

I gotta read up on it, i'm assuming the central idea is to create a party that is based heavily on black agendas & taking the best from both the left & the right.

If it is anything in that realm i will say it sounds ambitious but extremely tough to pull off because so many black people from both sides care more about securing their individual bags & pushing white supremacist ideology then actually trying to revolutionize ****.

I don't about white supremacists/supporters are the minority. I don't know the exact #'s but the feel of country don't seem like that. It's still majority white and there alot of non-white people that go along with the game.
