Some interesting tid bits about the movie...

- Matt Damon and Brad Pitt were previously attached to play **** Ecklund, but the role went to Christian Bale.

- Darren Aronofsky was previously attached to direct.

- Emily Blunt turned down a role.

- Christian Bale reportedly lost weight to achieve the very thin frame of Dickie Ecklund by eating very little. He even went missing for hours at a time in preparation for his role.

great movie, VERY moving, i was kindve

at first cause i wasnt feeling the story as much...but then it got really good. amazing acting, wahlberg is the worst though out of the cast

GREAT movie! I took my nephews to go see it and they loved it too. One of my nephew boxes and as we watched this film, it "hit home" because we know people in our gym like these characters. Like others have mention, it's more then just boxing, the family drama, the sad story of his brother, etc... but with that said, the boxing scenes were great too! The "in the ring" scenes weren't cheesy or nothing, they look good unlike many other boxing movies.

c. bale definitely steals this movie from marky mark. 

on a side note, conan o'briens real sister plays one of the sisters in the movie.  looks exactly like him too.

You don't need to be a boxing fan or know who Ward was to enjoy this movie. Take your girl without hesitation.

This is Bale's best recent performance probably only behind The Machinist.
