The Graphic Design Thread UPDATE: 1st post filled with info. 2nd with NTer's portfolios.

I would alter your design more. Though you added cover up over the boobs, the face, the hair, the arm positioning, the comb, almost everything is still extremely similar to the original design.

If it goes on a book and the original artist sees it, you and your mom would be up poop creek without a paddle.
Thanks for the info bro

I didnt mean literally use that pic, just more of the style I guess.. I would use a creation of my own when I do it for my mom.

I'm not trying to get caught up in anything using other people's stuff other than to play around with it, I'm too poor for that life

GD fam, I just had my second interview at a publication company for a senior editorial designer position, send me good vibes!

Anyone in LA? The company I currently work for will need a replacement if I do get the job!

This thread is on point. About to finish my bfa at Parsons in communication design in a few weeks.

Checkout my entry so far for the home comp. The details are taking forever. About 15% done. Hoping to flesh out the environment more. The side brownstones are going to be switched up also.

Critiques are definitely welcome. The colors, composition, illustration, type etc.

Sorry if I haven't been active in here guys. I've been away at a design conference. I'll update the thread in a couple days

Feeling inspired as hell right now.

The highlights for me were:

Roger Dean - the guy is a master and his insight is incredible.

Neville Page - a concept and creature artist for Hollywood. He's worked on Avatar, Cloverfield and the two latest Star Trek's among others. He is great and a genuinely nice person.

Gemma O'Brien - typographer and illustrator based in Sydney. Her work is amazing. She also runs a blog called "For the love of type"

Voice - these guys are located in my city and I love their work. I got a chance to chat with them and will probably send some of my work their way and have a chat to them soon.

^ definitely do it

For sure. You don't get an opportunity like that all the time.

Has anyone ever created a typeface from scratch that you can actually type with? And if so, what program did you use?

I just made one in Illustrator, but have no idea how to go about making it a functional typeface.
