The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Besides commentary/analyst, what else can do in the sport? Maybe coaching.

Hopefully he has other interests. It's sad to see his downfall the last year or so.

With all these world records getting destroyed in swimming at the olympics, I expect some people to get caught and medals taken away.

I read the news article about the one female swimmer doing the finger wagging to a Russian swimmer who has popped. And I'm like, the American isn't doping too?

do majority of fans even care about integrity of sports and overall health of athletes?

I think it's a case of being blissfully ignorant. It's like when Mark M and Sammi S were hitting home runs that one season in baseball. Everyone was hyped and excited. It was curious and in hindsight obvious but at the time, no one cared.

made the sport exciting? who did it hurt?
ballparks were filled and baseball was being talked about. isn't that what the sport wanted?

Insert.gif here. That period was one of the most exciting of baseball in recent memory imo (along with the Yanks winning and Barry Bonds HR chase). My point was the fans didn't care despite the evidence to the contrary. It's clear they were doping. But at the time everyone was ignorant despite the evidence.

Problem with MMA/UFC is they themselves instituted this policy to create the appearance that the sport was cleaned. They shot themselves in the fold. Meanwhile, Dana and Lorenzo looking yoked.

Word going even further think about the Tour de France, when's the last time anyone has given a damn about it. Lance was killing those mountains and had my undivided attention while doing so.

you still need to bust your *** on PEDs.

personally, i don't care. i know how rigorous training is. i can't imagine doing multiple training sessions a day followed by sparring and strength and conditioning. FFS, it's hard to make it through one intense BJJ or wrestling session without tweaking a muscle, jamming a finger, rolling an ankle, etc. then you mix in sparring and concussions.

injuries accumulate, and they accumulate fast in this sport. i think if this sport was 100% clean, fighters would be dropping out of fights due to injuries at a ridiculous rate. human body is just not made to endure what these fighters put themselves through.

We don't care that much because we're not the ones who have to fight juiced up people who are trying to put us to sleep or snap our limbs.

Word to Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping. I think that's the issue.

But then again, Mark Hunt went into the Lesnar fight knowing Brock was going to be juiced to the gills (no pun on Gilbert Melendez).

I agree that they're doing the training but the reason for the drugs is in order to improve their recovery/performance...which might not be fair to their opponent who might not be doing the same thing.

Still don't agree with the Chad Mendes suspension. Dude wasn't preparing for a fight at all.

True to an extent, but there are (allegedly) natural guys like Bisping, Diaz brothers etc. who manage to make it through training camps and still fight at a high level. Difference between them and the roiders is that the roiders can probably go 10 times harder in practice and still recover effectively, which is where they have the unfair advantage.

If everybody was off roids I think they'd still show up to fight as much as they do now, but they'd just be forced to taper their training down and work smarter.

I don't know if you guys watching the olympics or not but this Friday you guys should catch the most Dominant Judoka ever in France's Teddy Riner.  6'8 290 lb heavyweight freak.  I really wish he would go to MMA and clean out the entire HW division after getting some training in striking.  He would have to cut to make the 265 lb but this guy would be scary

i care about the integrity of the sport

i just think it's crazy how much training people are doing and how a lot of fighters are probably towing the line on what is and isnt banned

i think about dom and how he trains (last i checked) 6 days a week - like really?  you don't think that had anything to do with your setbacks

im not saying hes on something, im just using him as an example of how far fighters are pushing themselves

Yup, these guys train like animals.

Think about only the BJJ aspect. The average athlete takes about ten years to get to a black belt level, and that's training about 4 times a week. Now, consider how many guys have black belts in the UFC alone. and that's only the BJJ aspect. You still have to account for wrestling, striking, strength and conditioning, etc. This is a ridiculously physically demanding sport.

GSP has apparently begun the return process with USADA

They should book a rematch between Diaz and GSP with Woodley/Thompson on the Fight Pass prelims of the event.

remember reading an article where he said he would never do mma. most of the guys in there dont respek one another and have no moral values. doesn't like the sport one bit and has zero interest
the french judo federation bans coaches from getting involved in mma and would ban them from judo if they did that
