The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

You're a weirdo my guy thinking about what color briefs I wear. Real sassy of you.

But as always is the trend in your posts, you lack objectivity. You let your bias take control. I get it you hate Conor McGregor, yadda yadda. You the only person in the world to gove Nate the round and not see how McGregor could take positives.

Nate took him down and Conor ended up in the dominant position until the round ended. I don't care how much swaying Diaz did, he was taking shots. With that said the consistent point everyone has made was how Conor wasn't fazing Diaz with his loaded shots.

If I were biased like you that'd be like me saying there were no positives Chad Mendes could have taken from his fight with Conor McGregor. He got put to sleep and that's it.

We get it, you're a failed boxer and understand boxing science. We don't need to read about it in every thing you contribute in here.

Interesting topic that has to do with scoring.

Nate took Conor down, Conor swept him while Nate pulled guard. How do you score that particular sequence?

Watching the first fight again, I feel like Nate won the first round.  Nate didn't wobble McGregor at all, but he landed more strikes throughout the round. I think people focused a little too much on Nate getting cut and bleeding even though he wasn't actually hurt at all. McGregor had a good minute in the second round of landing a few solid punches, but again didn't really hurt Nate at all.

McGregor falsely believes he did a lot better than he actually did and that attitude isn't conducive to at all.
According to FightMetric, Nate did not outstrike Conor in the first round

Round 1:

Total Strikes:

Conor: 32

Nate: 26

Significant Strikes:

Conor: 28

Nate: 23

In terms of Nate's takedown, and Conor's sweep, I'd call that a wash. Nothing happened in that sequence

Should I have said red panties? My apologies if you were legitimately offended.

My point is people are believing Conor when he runs his mouth about landing huge bombs that would've put 145ers and RDA to sleep. Watch the fight again without sound and tally the strikes. Takedown and reversal even each other out. No one dominated the first round, but my opinion is Nate had Conor on volume and making him miss with the boxing. conor might've loaded up and landed a few big shots, but that doesn't trump Colume if you can't hurt your opponent.

As for calling me a failed boxer, the only failed boxer is the boxer that never gets in the ring. And for the record, I fought professional Muay Thai in Thailand and retired with a winning record.

In grappling it would likely result in a draw points wise.

Watch it again and tally the strikes that actually land yourself.

Edit: Let's say we accept those numbers. You call that utter domination and a blowout by McGregor the way he tries to play it in the media?

I rewatched the fight for the 1st time since the card. In my head I felt connor dominated 1st round but watching it again really wasn't the case. I'd say connor won the 1st but not by much. Does it really matter when he tapped in the 2nd tho?? Connor gassed out.

I'll re-watch because sometimes I don't trust their tallies

No way was it a domination by Conor though, either way. I thought he just won round 1

conor thinks he did massive damage cause nate got a little bloody, but i think it's a result of that scar tissue
nate ate his shots. conor only chance is to outpoint nate for five rds. don't see it happening

He was definitely the one coming forward the whole round, which a lot of people view as a plus. Aggression can sway judging and perception as well. Especially in the first round, given it doesn't look like a fighter going for broke in the last round trying to steal a fight/get a KO.

I'm sure the Diaz fan bros will get upset but Nate Diaz' boxing skills aren't as great as some make it seem. I've watched some of Nate's training and it is sloppy.

It's certainly not "textbook" but neither was Roy Jones, or even Ali in a lot of ways.

Doesn't minimize it's effectiveness.

Interesting. That's closer than I remember and it doesn't really fit Conor's narrative of the first.

Sure being technical is nice but if your striking style works then it don't matter. Keeping your hands up on defense is important though.

there's nothing pretty about the diaz bros boxing but it's very effective over the course of a fight

their style is designed to wear you out over time

never seen bj broken down like that standing up

Of course Conor's narrative isn't accurate, was that ever a question? Haha

Good call on bad blood I'll tune in to that

Probably be fluff but oh well

Jon Jones is coming back!!! I hope he's not celebrating prematurely!
