The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I thought it was known Fertita bros and all those guys cashed out. Only one still on board is Dana.

Outside of the obvious cash grab I still don't see the point of cm punk. Nothing about him is interesting

He's old. He has zero fighting background. He's uninteresting as a person. He's not some exceptional athlete

What would your opinion be if he beats the kid?

Joe Silva departing is a legit hit considering he was the matchmaker the whole time the Fertittas owned the organization. I wonder if he finally had enough, they letting his apprentice take the reigns, or if Dana decided he isn't necessary because legit matchmaking isn't need for "money fights."

Only thing decent about CM Punk is his wife, even though she probably got smanged by all of wrestlemania dozens of times.

Not much.

Gall doesn't belong in the UFC even with a 2-0 pro record and a 3-0 amateur record. They brought in a can to get Gall a win when CM Punk got injured. Dude he beat has a combined amateur/pro record of 4-8.

I liked him as a wrestler so looking forward to see how he does. He used to wear a Gracie hoody to the ring so i'm guessing he had a few bjj classes.

I don't see why everyone's so mad about CM Punk being in the UFC. He's not taking anyone's spot in the division, he's not taking anyone's big fight. He's just doing what he wants to do, and the UFC is taking a chance.

This..I give the man props for stepping into the octagon

Props to brooks, but I can understand the hate.

All the fighters had to go through smaller shows to even get the call. I'm sure there's folks who fought for years before landing in the ufc.

It's unfair that someone with zero experience gets to fight in the big leagues.

I don't see a problem with it, if you have the means, you take it. He's getting old, there's no way he's gonna be fighting in the minor leagues first.

Brock fought one fight before he landed in the UFC and started wrecking fools. He only got in the UFC for his name, just like CM. Although I think its a cash grab, I don't think the UFC is gonna throw CM in there if they know he can't fight at least a little.

Blame the UFC, not Punk. They gave him the opportunity and he just took it like anybody else would do

Difference being Lesnar was a legit NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion in his younger years.

as far as i know, brock lesnar is the only NCAA d1 national champ @ HW that's ever competed in the UFC. that alone is quite the feat.

It's not about being mad at him. There's almost zero reason to be intrigued by him

Other than seeing what it's like to see the average person come off the street and compete against another pretty much amateur fighter

Comparing this to lesnar is just silly. He's an athletic freak who wrestled high level in college and almost made the nfl

It's only one roster spot though. There's a couple hundred other spots. Plus the company is always giving smaller show fighters a chance when replacements are needed.

So if you're athletic, its all good for you to go to the UFC?

Hey, I agree with most people here. I don't think he has any business doing in the UFC. But, he's there because the UFC sees something in him, whether it be real talent or just money. My point is, it's ridiculous to be mad at Punk for using his name to fulfill his dream. Everyone that has that kind of leverage would do so. Again, he isn't harming anyone. He's not taking anyone's roster spot, he's not taking anyone's big fights, he's literally just someone else going out there to fight. There's no harm done.

Uh no, I'm talking about an athletic specimen like Brock is. Punk isn't exceptionally athletic and he has zero base. That's why comparing him to Brock makes no sense

Again this isn't about anyone being mad at him, did anyone here say they were? Just curious. I'm more saying there's simply no interest there other than seeing if he won't get too badly hurt

Not mad at Punk, but mad at the fact that he's in the UFC.

He hasn't even had a fight yet. What if he goes in there and beats the breaks off this kid?

I'm just saying, give the dude a shot before being outraged that he's in the UFC. It's not his fault, its the UFC that gave him a shot.

Does he belong? I don't think so. But all the hate for him because he has no experience? I just don't get it.
