The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Tyrone Woodley is probably overjoyed right now, I hope he got himself some PPV points negotiated into his contract

BJJ dudes.....

I was ready to join a spot not far from me just to get on the mats.

Still might.

But I was looking for some Martial Arts spots for my son and found 2 more.

One run by two Marcelo Garcia Brown Belts
One that appears to be run by two Renzo Gracie/Danaher Black Belts.

If you were to opt for one lineage vs. another, which way would you lean? I've heard MG in terms of pure BJJ is hard to beat. But I also see what the Renzo/Danaher guys are doing on the competition circuit right now.

I should mention that the Renzo/Danaher BB's spot seems like more of a chain. They have 5 spots in Brooklyn.

Marcelo Garcia is widely considered as the GOAT of modern BJJ. Can't go wrong there.

But you will get a more complete experience from the Danaher game. Especially since they are leg lock specialists and that's what's hot in the streets right now.

Also depends if you want to do Gi vs No Gi. Danaher specializes in the latter

Watching Conor survive the second time against Nate gives me a bit more confidence he can compete with some of the better fighters at 155... his chin (still got dazed but didn't go down) and take down defense improved for sure...

With that said, look at how Eddie fought Pettis. If executes a similar game plan, I don't know. Eddie is one of the best grinders/wrestlers in the division. Nate is by no means a wrestler and doesn't really shoot for take downs, so Conor warding off Nate's takedowns while impressive, isn't the same as stopping Eddie from the takedown

Eddie's chin has been checked and I fully believe Conor could KO him. The shots that Conor hit Nate with would have put down Ferguson and Eddie IMO. Their chins are by no means made of granite

I agree. While Nates wrestling is very good, he likes to utilize more Judo style throws and trips. Eddie is a flat out power wrestler.

If this was made a year ago, I would say Eddie hands down. Especially after seeing what Chad did to Conor on two weeks notice. But Conor has grown a TON through those Diaz fights man

Msg gonna sell out and Conor gonna pull out
Would surprise me if Conor pulled out. He's dealt with injuries quite well and hasn't pulled out of a single UFC fight

And yes, woodley gets his wish. He was begging Conor to come and fight on the card..

As much as he talks and as much hype there is around him, you can ALWAYS count on Conor to show up and put on a show.

If alvarez loses to that irish clown, i'll go down to philly and slap the ish out of him.

Conor's strength is Eddie's strength (boxing & heavy hands), I think either one could win in a straight up stand up fight, gonna be interesting.

If Eddie wrestles though it's over, he could easily grind Conor out. But I don't think he's gonna do that on this big of a stage, I think we're gonna see Bellator/RDA Eddie.

Betting lines opened up with Conor as a slight favorite, McGregor -185, Alvarez +150

So this contract was ready and sent out before the khabib fight contract?
