The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I don't see Frankie holding a title again. Even at 135.

I don't see him keeping up with the new blood.

Be interesting to see what he decides to do once his last fight is up.
I have to disagree with you brother, he's beaten everyone except Aldo. Specifically, which new blood couldn't Edgar keep up with?

Yair and Choi are a bit green to be that confident in

But you have a point, it's interesting to see what happens to him

I would prefer Yair to go up against Cub but if they don't go that route, I wouldn't be mad at Frankie either

Zombie should get Cub or Stephens

Frankie is too big a jump for Yair

I could see Frankie vs Max Blessed Holloway after he fights Waldo win or lose

After seeing what Cub did to KSB, you never know.

Curious to see how the negotiations go.

I could see Frankie as the kind of fighter Dana takes care of.

Dudes that know and appreciate fighting respect it.

But where WME sits in all of this is hard to say.

Some of you boys got issues :lol

There's no way Frankie waits that long to fight either Aldo or Max

Frankie has beaten everyone else which is problematic lol

Zombie is always there but I feel that's easy money for Frankie and wouldn't prove anything

At least if Frankie beat Yair, it would say look, I can keep up with the blue chippers too, not just beat the old guard

Frankie should've never moved down. He won that second fight against henderson. Down the line he could've beat pettis too.

Would have been fun if Frankie stayed at 55

He would have probably had to gone through any of:
Pettis, Nate, Gil, Cowboy and RDA

It's easy to say that though now. Back then to get an instant title shot at Aldo and to challenge yourself against the best at that time, I can't criticize that. Especially in hindsight. I actually appreciate him taking the Aldo fight

I don't think he would have been able to hang with any of those killers

Big step up from Gray Maynard, washed BJ Penn and Bendo

penn wasn't washed back then. He was in his prime and wrecking the lightweight division.

BJ was FAR from washed in their first 2 fights.

Bendo beat Nate and Cowboy and that Cowboy win was questionable.

Gray was 1-1 with Nate.

Gil I always thought was overrated. Great fighter and a top LW but by no means unstoppable.

Frankie could have easily hung with any of those dudes.

Stop pretending son ain't nice :lol

Bendo also easily beat Nate who subsequently washed Conor

BUT, styles do make matchups and there's weight classes for a reason, I think Frankie's height and size woulda eventually caught up to him, especially against those taller longer strikers, like Cowboy, Nate and Conor. Khabib would be rough for him too.

Wouldn't mind seeing him try it tho, outside of Aldo he basically ran through anyone he faced at 145.

I also think Frankie could've beat Pettis for the belt if he had stuck around longer.

Lightweight division was LITTTT when Edgar, Bendo, and Pettis were champs, by far the best weight class imo. Looking kind of dry these days.

No one mentioning RDA tho? Ok.

Who destroyed Cowboy, Bendo, Pettis, and Nate

And y'all gotta stop boosting BJ to make your mans Frankie look good. His whole career been on a downward spiral since GSP. He only beat KenFlo, Diego Dream Sanchez, and CTE Matt Hughes after that

Well, you gave us a list of dudes.....so only one of them was on point?

I think we've seen RDA isn't a world beater. He has losses on his record to Tyson Griffin and Jeremy Stephens for ***** sake :lol

Agreed with this.

Frankie was always too small for 155 but he still did work at that weight so I have no reason to believe he wouldn't have continued to do so.

The converse of "styles make fights" is that for each of those guys, there was something he did that would equally give them fits.

Cowboy doesn't do well against great boxers. Nate not so much against great wrestlers. Conor potentially the same.

Khabib I could see having problems with the footwork/boxing. But he is obviously a ******* beast. Ferg fight will tell us a lot because Ferg can wrestle and strike very well.

Here's the thing with me....even as a Frankie fan, I'm not really with the **** ****. I don't really care if he wins a belt again or if he wins or loses moving forward.

Dude is already an accomplished fighter with a great career so I'd just like to see him in some great matchups that give us some great ******* fights. At 155/145/135. Wherever.

As much as people want to front on him, dude is one of the UFC leaders in Fight Of The Night/Performance bonuses for a reason :lol

Y'all always hate on the MMAMathematics but y'all are running some Advanced Algorithms right now

Not even. You claimed dudes were on a different level than others dudes when they clearly were not.

Frankie would have struggled against Nate due to reach advantage, it goes to the mat Nate has BJJ advantage

Frankie would have struggled against Cowboy due to reach advantage

Pettis lost to only Guida During his UFC debut

I agree Gilbert overrated tho

RDA might have literally killed Frankie

Good chance he would've kept taking nate down. He has good bjj defense too.
