The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Cyril should hafta fight Blades... if he can beat him then he can get the winner of Jon/Stipe for the vacant belt

I wouldn’t be mad at that.

But…let’s hope the UFC have resolved their contract issues with Jon, who literally was saying he should get paid what he deserves.

I see the same problem with Jon Jones as Francis. Dana not gonna wanna pay these guys.

Tuivasa has been on a run lately, should he beat Lewis impressively…he might leap frog his way to an interim title shot, prob vs Stipe.

OR if Dana wants to be petty…and Francis takes off. He’ll pay Jones (Knowing that’s the fight Francis wanted) and place him into the interim shot, winner eventually gets elevated to full.

Jones is asking for more...lol.

He reportedly gets $5 Mill a fight. It sounds like he was shooting for $10 mill or more neighborhood.

Francis also, typically, finishes his fights (minus this, the Stipe and Lewis fights). More exciting, less legal troubles. Just because you hate his representation...doesn't mean you don't pay them.

With Jones, circumstances could possibly change with having the whole legal issues last year. Even though charges were dropped, the man cares too much of what people think about him. Probably doesn't want that being the last thing people remember. Wouldn't be surprised if he came back to win the belt then retire.

I don’t disagree.

He’s had multiple legal issues which reduces his negotiation power.

It will be more than 2 years since the last time he fought.

He’s gained all the weight. It’s about time he’s tried that frame out in the cage.

HW wide open.

I think it’s Gane/stipe for the belt after Francis gets stripped.

Would love to see Tai get a title shot if he can beat Lewis. Impossible to not like Tai

Welp. Like I was saying, it was no guarantee Dana was going to pay Francis with a win

Also I knew nicksick would have good gameplan. That went under the radar the whole lead up

It’s crazy. A coach put themselves in the limelight. And the irony, that coach’s fighter was exploited by the same martial arts the criticized Pupil fell victim to.

The Post Fight Ringer Podcast said there’s no money in Africa. Morocco is the only country the UFC could visit per Izzy by way of PT Carrol. That’s sad. They could have a card with Izzy, Usman, Francis if he resigns, etc. It sucks the UFC doesn’t see as an economy it can capitalize on.

Told one of my friends that after the card. If ufc won’t go to Africa with 3 champs, no way they do a card in Mexico for Moreno

Hmmmmm, who's gonna headline.....

"The promotion announced Saturday that UFC 276 will take place on July 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as part of the 10th anniversary of International Fight Week. Last year, the weeklong fanfest was postponed until September due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

No bouts have been announced yet for UFC 276."

Kinda random but is it still the norm for people to train 2-3 times a day or is that outdated by now? Looking back it’s kinda ridiculous to do that 5-6x a week.
I can’t believe I used to do bjj 2x a day, or bjj in the morning, something else at night, pretty consistently. No chance I’m doing that now

If brunson beats cannonier he has the merit case to get the next title shot. Whether he gets it or not will be interesting

If Strickland beats hermansson and cannonier beats brunson it’ll be a toss up between them of who gets the title shot

Okomoto update on TJ

Former UFC champion TJ Dillashaw's recovery from knee surgery is taking longer than expected, although he anticipates returning to the Octagon around midyear -- in a title fight.

Dillashaw, 35, underwent surgery on his left knee last August, to repair a torn PCL and damaged meniscus. He suffered the injuries during the first round of a decision win over Cory Sandhagen in July.

Initially, Dillashaw had targeted a return early this year, as he suffered no damage to his ACL. That timeframe proved to be overly optimistic, however, and he is now eyeing something in six months.
