The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Watched a long Ali interview

-Expects Usman to fight in June or July
-Going to meet with the UFC next week regarding Cejudo
-Regarding Francis: forget about Jon Jones, Dana should promote the fight vs Fury, thinks Dana will allow it to happen and that the situation isn't as ugly as it seems
-Waiting on the UFC to make the call on Burns vs Chimaev, believes the winner deserves the next title shot after Leon
-Zabit is training and in the USADA program, will talk to the UFC next week about what's next

i honestly forgot Gane beat Volkov... you right he deserved it but it jus become more and more glaringly obvious that nothing really matters anymore

Stipe not even being mentioneddd until its becoming clear Francis is out is lame to me

the whole welterweight division and timeline I have beef with, 55 is bastardized by Conor looming overhead. Im jus mad at the company I guess

Good for Griffin but a Magny headliner . Why not get Anthony Smith to jump fill in

How many ppv buys does a fury fight generate? The guy is one of the biggest stars in boxing. In boxing it seems the stars and the champions get paid well. Then you got ufc champions fighting with dana about money.

Rashad looked decent in his dominant win

Jon Jones manager meeting with the ufc

“He is willing, ready, and able to fight whoever we can get for the heavyweight title,” Schaefer said to The Sun. “The reason why I just don’t say Francis Ngannou; I’d love to put together a Francis Ngannou fight and I’m in conversations with the UFC. And as a matter of fact, I’m going to be meeting with them this weekend here in Los Angeles.”

According to Kevin Iole, Wilder/Fury did 600 K domestically and 300K abroad.

The one before that did 800K to 850K. First did above 300K.

The anti-Dana/UFC pay campaign is kinda going viral. It's one thing for Jake Paul or Dan Rafael to be on it, but when I saw Shaun King posting about UFC fighter pay I was like damn this is reaching an entirely different crowd.

Still feel like nothing is gonna happen though

Oops. Didn’t see it posted. Just catching up to all the MMA tea lol.

Funny that Cyborg is in it. But it’s not real news till the fake news covers it.

I don’t really follow Shaun King. What has he been saying?

I saw a few retweets on his TL.

scumbag dana will just randomly go on a rant about oscar de la hoya again.

the GATE for 270 was 5.2x million... lol
Fury-Wilder 3 returned “just under” 600,000 purchases on the domestic front, according to Yahoo Sports analyst Kevin Iole, with another 300,000 coming in from overseas. The PPV cost $79.99 to purchase and was split between ESPN and FOX Sports.

Fury stopped Wilder by way of eleventh-round knockout.

Even with gate sales in excess of $10 million, the best-case scenario has Fury vs. Wilder 3 breaking even after factoring in the guaranteed purses and production costs, as well as the aggressive marketing campaign that was forcibly extended after “The Gypsy King” contracted COVID-19, pushing their original date of July 24 all the way to Oct. 9.

Different models. UFC seems to be low-risk, low OPEX/CAPEX model. They keep costs down like fighter pay, promotion, event localities. Boxing seems to be high-risk, high rewards. And because the fighters are truly independent contractors and negotiate per fight, they're not stuck/locked in.

But, if we're being honest, most athletically gifted young men are going to invest their time in baseball, football, NFL, basketball, etc. Lebron in a year, making more than Francis.

Shin to back of dome. Gat damnnnn i dunno how he kept from sleeping... jus to take a half dozen right hands on the temple smh
