The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Stepping aside from the HW title / rematch conversation for a minute, I think this point by BlackCease is too important to ignore. It applies to fighters across the board, regardless of division: it's very rare that both guys in a fight will be in their prime, more so these days than when the UFC was just starting to blow up. Jose Aldo's a good example: dude was straight up washing guys left and right in the WEC. I'm sure he's improved and evolved as a fighter since those days but he's also been in much more difficult fights and taken damage over that time, so he's not as "fresh" as guys who are just coming up... definitely not as fresh as he once was (for some of the older MMA heads out there, this also applies to someone like Chuck Liddell).

Today's Conor is probably the best he's ever been. But can you say the same about Aldo? I don't know that you can.

So back to the HWs, agree that Werdum is probably the best version of himself right now but not sure that a post-surgery Cain, even if he had arrived in Mexico much sooner, would be the "best" Cain. Then again, if he had won against Werdum this point probably wouldn't matter.
What should even make about that point though? I don't really care about that tbh. Cain could rematch today and win. That's not really a compelling point to me

If we're going to play that game we can go for years talking about specific matches across the sport

Rafael dos Anjos will make his first lightweight title defense against Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 17 on Dec. 19 in Orlando, according to a report from FOX Sports. It's the first time the 155-pound belt has been on the line on FOX since April 20, 2013 when Benson Henderson fought Gilbert Melendez in San Jose.

AA/Mir, JDS, Stipe/Rothwell gonna be waiting a looooong time for their chance :{

Unless they do Werdum dirty and don't give him a rematch if Cain wins, which is ENTIRELY possible too if the right money is to be made :lol :{

If Werdum does lose they better give the rightful champ a shot at it again. Cain has fought the same people over and over for the past 20 years of his career.

When Robbie lost against Hendricks he had to fight two other guys before he could challenge for the title again. When Hendricks lost his belt he's still fighting for another title shot. Barao had to fight with another poor performance for another title shot. The lightweight's superstar Pettis wasn't eem gifted an immediate rematch. Why doesn't Cain have to. He defeated a JDS who chose not to improve his grappling and still use his head to block punches. He faced Bigfoot who's gameplan was to let Cain turn his face into dog food again.

Makes no cents. Yes, this rustles my jimmies.

I also hope RDA gives Cerrone a beating of a lifetime for those false accusations.

The real loser of the Cain/Werdum rematch is JDS because he was probably next in line behind Cain. If he beats Overeem and Cain beats Werdum he more than likely won't get a 4th fight against Cain.

Good for Cerrone. He's been wanting a fight for a while now. Plus he's probably "broke" already and needs the money.

I think next challenger for the hw title will depend on who wins the rematch. If it's cain, that rules out jds, if it's werdum he will prob get it as long as he wins.

Don't think werdum gets an immediate rematch they usually only gift those to champs who have defended their title.

And finally cowboy rda set!!!! I might legit cry if cowboy wins

He needs to come out like he did against Varner the 2nd time, a bat outta hell

How LIT would it be to have Cowboy as champ. Best People's Champ in recent memory if it were to happen

Don't want to see Cowboy in guard too much, RDA is just too vicious down there man

Silva v Diaz ruled a no-contest. Silva suspended for 1 year. But eligible to fight February 2016.
Welp. I wouldn't be surprised to see Silva return in FEB 2016 and then again one last time perhaps at UFC 200 in July

When is Diaz supposed to get a ruling?

I think they said Diaz hearing was pushed back from August and now targeted for September.

I guess Silva might have screwed himself over. Hearing they were offering him 9 months but he didn't accept.

He should've took the deal. Instead his only excuse was getting some boner meds from a friend that got them in Thailand.

So he could have been back by December? Dude didn't want to admit it, I actually don't blame him if he only lost out on a few months. Even if he's guilty, at least he didn't admit it

He didn't look anything like the normal Anderson in his last fight but I'd like to see him a few more times before he retires

Unless Diaz can prove the tests were wrong, I wonder what kind of punishment he's gonna get since its his 3rd offense.

The callabo of Andy's defense and this news :

The hearing was also berated by phone ringtones going off at random moments, including tracks like "Let's Talk About Sex" by Salt-N-Pepa, "It Wasn't Me" by Shaggy as well as "Bump N' Grind" by R. Kelly.
